I’d been craving AYCE bbq, and I was reminded of how much I loved going to Gyu-Kaku back when I lived in LA. It had been a couple of years since my last visit, so I checked their menus online and was happy to see they still offer AYCE, happy hour deals, à la carte options, and lunch specials.

We went in the late afternoon for their lunch AYCE and were seated right away. For our first round, we ordered a few appetizers and plates of meat. The cucumber and cabbage salad was just as refreshing and addictive as I remembered. The marinated meats leaned a bit on the sweeter side, so next time we’ll probably ask for lighter marinade, or even go non-marinated (if allowed).

The service was attentive, and as we ate, the restaurant gradually filled up with more customers, adding to the lively atmosphere. We wrapped up our meal with ice cream and s’mores, which brought back all the nostalgia. Overall, it was a great visit, and we’ll definitely be back!

The food was good, but it's sooooo loud and packed, from the parking lot to the table arrangements. We literally have to shout across the table in order to hear each other. If you're just there to get full and you don't care about the social value of dining out, then this place will do. If you need to talk, you will have a better conversation at McDonald's.

Even when there are only four people in the place, you’re still left waiting. I had to wait over 10 minutes just to get my credit card back that’s not just a delay, it’s a remarkable lack of service. There’s simply no excuse for this level of inattentiveness.

This is my new favorite place to eat every single Monday when I’m off. I have no other desires for my free time than to truly enjoy myself. The AYCE is not only great value, it’s such a damn good time with loved ones and some cold beers. It’s shocking to me that there’s not always a wait. I wish I could tell you item names, but I love the beef, pork, and that spinach is a sleeper that is so necessary. I also really love finishing off with a lil smores. The staff is always super cool, prompt, and friendly. I’ll be there every week on Monday, and if by chance I cannot make it, I will be there Tuesday. That is how good this is.

I booked this in advance for a business dinner and it was a disaster. The grill was filthy, the tongs were crusted, and the sauces were sticky and unclean. I politely asked the waiter with glasses and a black COVID mask for water to take my cancer medication and he was incredibly rude. I told him I have stage four cancer and needed hydration — he brushed me off. I lost my client over this unprofessional environment. I paid $235 and left a tip only because one amazing server got my Arnold Palmer fast and treated me with respect. I will not return. Gen Korean BBQ is cleaner, more professional, and worth every penny.

They need a new AC system. It was 85 degrees outside and almost same temp inside the restaurant. Went here multiple times, not a pleasant place to eat on Father's Day.

Service was very slow. We were asked if we wanted meats or anything else every 30+ mins even though we would flag someone down and ask but they always forgot to put in the order. Refill was offered at the end when we asked for the check even though we also asked for refills multiple times. The food itself when we did manage to get it was good no complaints there but the service definitely needs to improve and the location is could use some work AC was not working, seats and walls look old and not to mention the restrooms were a disaster.

Second time coming here within a month and this time it wasn't that great. Our grill didn't heat our food evenly and had to be adjusted numerous times either burning our meat or we had to wait a while to cook our meat. The restaurant didn't feel very clean either.

Always the go to for AYCE bbq. Happy hour and AYCE is fantastic as well. Way better than most the KBBQ places in Irvine

Went here for date night. My BF and I love going to Gyu-Kaku. We got lucky and grabbed parking right by the front door. It was a busy Saturday evening so we expected there to be a line. Definitely glad we made reservations through Open Table. We were greeted almost instantly. We got in close to our reserved time. The food was great per usual. Waiter was super busy and my miso soup was forgotten. Nothing that a simple reminder couldn't fix. He was on it right away. Restrooms were well maintained. It was our first time at this location.

First timers did not disappoint so much good Arianna walked us through how to order and explained about the dishes plus the happy hour options👍👍 so much food and beer at great price for a party of 6. Will definitely be back soon!!
