Iām so obsessed with these snow cones that Iāll come up with any excuse to go to Costco in Ukiah, an hour from home, just so I can grab one. I order the exact same flavor every time. At this point, Iāve had enough of them to say with absolute certainty: when the older man makes it, itās the best snow cone on earth. Perfect texture. Perky. Icy. Heaven.
But when the younger woman makes it, it turns out like snow cone soup. Very wet, no structure, justā¦ wet slush. Iām assuming the snow all comes from the same machine, so I have no idea how his are so firm and refreshing while hers are so soupy.
The flavorās great either way, so itās still a treat, but for me it really throws the whole texture off and Iām bummed. Usually I go alone, so itās not a big deal if itās a āmehā day. But one time I hyped these up like crazy and brought my teenager along. She handed us two cups of soup, and I had to convince him I wasnāt lying about how amazing they usually are.
Still obsessed. Just hoping I catch the right snow cone artist next time.

I travel to Ukiah for work on a regular basis, have tried the food up and down the city and area. This spot has DELICIOUS tacos. I put a lot of weight on rice and beans and theirs is some of the best I've had, near par with el paso/border town Texas.VERY unassuming looking food truck with a very confusing name.A mandatory stop for me on every trip here.

Yesterday I headed out for a snack at Hectors snow cones. I ordered the tostilocos. The cucumbers were very tart and the chips tasted a little odd. I glanced down at the date on the bag of chips and it said November 22nd of 2022. When I returned them the young lady offered to my money back. The lady in the back took a look at them and said "what's wrong?" The date was said. She was like that's BS she almost ate all of them. I had not. That's besides the point. What did she expect for me to continue with the food poisoning? The lady in the back only wanted to refund me partial part of the money. I asked for a full refund. I will never be going back to them. They could of just apologized and made it right. But they had to make sure thay they were able to humiliate a person for speaking up. I will be making a formal complaint and will never return to thay establishment. Which is a shame because I am all about shopping local.
