Thank you for providing an opportunity to express the feelings of disabled individuals and their families.This recent visit to the Speech Therapy session was far from satisfactory. Patience, who is severely disabled, requires extra time and accommodation, especially in the unfamiliar hospital environment. The room was cramped, and he needed more time to settle down and prepare himself for the session.The therapist mentioned the need for medical improvement for Speech Therapy services, but Patience hasn't received any medical treatment to facilitate progress. When conventional medical interventions haven't yielded results for autism and intellectual disability, technology has been a valuable tool for Patience's communication training. Despite initially struggling, Patience began to communicate and demonstrate his abilities. However, we were asked to leave abruptly because the next patient was waiting.It's disheartening to see the concerns of disabled individuals go unheard, leading to a denial of service. Families dealing with disability often feel trapped between medical providers who refer them to schools and vice versa, with no viable solutions in sight. This sense of hopelessness pervades their lives, both within the medical system and the broader community.Leaving such appointments, it's difficult not to feel overwhelmed by the lack of support and solutions for the challenges faced by disabled individuals and their families.
