We came here not knowing what to expect. It was our first time but our daughter was having a bday and wanted Mexican food. This restaurant had the best tasting homemade food we couldn’t find anywhere else. The staff was so warm and accommodating to our family and especially our kids. The chef himself and his wife even introduced themselves and were so welcoming. We definitely recommend this place for delicious home made tasting authentic Mexican dishes. And we will always always be coming back here. Thank you again Jose and to the staff. ❤️

My wife ordered online for pick-up and let me tell you once I walked in I was greeted with a very warm welcome! The food is honestly a 10/10 and taste home made, like grandma made it. Do not be fooled by the sign or the shopping center! The food is very tasty. Home made corn tortillas, great margaritas! 100% better than the 4 Mexican restaurants in the area. The customer service is attentive and friendly. I've had the flautas, stuffed shrimp, camarrones diabla, rice and beans are excellent! Please support this family run business!

My husband and I stopped by Playa Azul on Memorial Day, and we were blown away by the quality of the food and the warm hospitality. From start to finish, everything was perfect.
We ordered the steak and shrimp plate—both were cooked to absolute perfection, tender and flavorful. I had the fried shrimp tacos, which were crispy and delicious, made even better by the homemade tortillas. We also tried the hibiscus iced tea (agua de jamaica), which was incredibly refreshing and perfectly balanced—not overly sweet like others we’ve tried.
The staff was equally impressive. May, our host and server, was so sweet and attentive. The owner, José Espinoza, and his son Maurice were both very kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. You can tell they truly care about their customers and take pride in their food.
We’ll definitely be coming back, and we highly recommend Playa Azul to anyone looking for authentic and flavorful Mexican food in Union City.
