Delicious, carry out only, German deli. Smaller than imagined. Menu items are far less expensive than anticipated. Cooked and prepared with a lot of care. Don't miss out on this gem!

I found this place online by chance while looking for deli sandwiches. I had called and ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich and the Reuben sandwich. Upon arriving I went inside and was pleasantly surprised with the imported goods and the small selection they had. The owner was very kind and helpful. I decided to try their apple strudels pastry as well. As far as the pastry was concerned, it was very good and reminded me of the real deal from European bakeries abroad

The sandwiches were very good. Made on the spot and very flavorful. They were also reasonably priced too for the portion. It came with its side of pickles as well.

I plan on coming back here, and hope it lasts another 50 years in Upland.

Had such a horrible experience here I have to share. My mom and I came here so excited to try their food and were left shocked for their service. We were next in line to order with a large family in front of us so it was taking a while for us to be attended, of course we didn't mind it, not until it was our turn to order we were finally next and trying to order when a Caucasian lady came in and asked if we were in line. She then went towards the end of the line as she was glimpsing the menu in the wall when the older lady cashier went up to her and asked for her order, the customer politely pointed out that we were next and she was still looking, so the cashier looked at us and said it's okay I can help you now. My mom n I were so shocked because we were there for a long time and even asked to use the restroom which she said they didn't have any. The customer looked at us and again pointed for us and the cashier said it was OK so she did start taking her order. I let the cashier know we were next and she told us to wait so I told her no we were leaving instead because we were next and had been waiting there for a while AND had to use a restroom. So overall we did feel like it was some kind of racial discrimination since we are dark skinned Hispanic women. I have never felt this discriminated or rejected, we definitely will not be going back and do NOT recommend. What a disappointment.

If you haven’t been to Upland German Deli, you are truly missing out on one of the best hidden gems around! From the moment you walk in, you’ are greeted with enthusiasm and you truly feel like you’re in Germany. The owners are awesome, kind and extremely passionate about what they do—and it shows in every bite.

The food is nothing short of incredible. Authentic, flavorful, and made with love—every dish is a taste of Germany. Whether it’s the bratwurst, schnitzel, or one of their homemade sides or desserts, (the tarts and potato salad are amazing) everything is consistently fresh and delicious. You can tell they care deeply about quality and tradition.

But what truly sets this place apart is the heart behind it. The owners pour their soul into this deli, and it creates an experience that’s not just about food—it’s about community, culture, and connection.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing German comfort food and the kind of service that leaves you smiling long after you leave. Thank you, Upland German Deli, for everything you do!

This is the real deal, if you’re looking for an authentic experience, come here.

We loved the Apple strudel, which had soft apples and reminded me of pies my grandmother used to make.

Great reubens and deli sandwiches. It’s a sweet older couple running the place, so it does take awhile to get your order, but it’s a very charming place and the food is definitely worth it. Note: it’s takeout only.

Went for the first time the other day. Place is great it’s a small place and comfortable vibes and Has a nice selection of item. I had ordered the Bavarian burger and it was excellent and a very fair price. Would definitely go back.

Hidden gem in Upland. Must stop spot. Get the Yorkshire dip. The best beef dip ever. Bread is soft, cheese is perfect and meat is great. The juice is perfect. The German Potato Salad is so good. The cute little lady behind the counter is super sweet. Prices are really good and you get a really big portion.

The Upland German deli has the best porkchop with red cabbage and potato salad very delicious. Also enjoyed browsing at all the authentic items for sale. They even have adventcalendars with chocolates.
