MADRE RESTAURANT & MEZCALERIA

Was my first time trying this place yesterday. Food was not good. Also it was over price for four people. They took a long time to take are order! I will not be going back.

Good drinks, good food. Only thing we did not like was that although it seemed they had tables available wait time did not move. They said 1hr+ wait, an hr later still said an hr wait. Other than that we had a good time.
Update, getting better although still slow to get drinks even when slow, drinks and food are great.

First of all…. All of their food is pre-made and frozen. Could not customize anything for my Vegan friend(NO Vegan options)even when he agreed to eat vegetarian… it took 30 min just to get a drink order. The place was DEAD … where were the employees? The food was MEDIOCRE. We mainly went because we had a fat GC and wanted to see if it improved since the E. Coli outbreak… that was my mistake. After waiting for our bill for 40 min I found our server eating at the bar. Again the place was empty and no one that worked there would even make eye contact with us. After I begged them to close us out they tell us that the GC situation is not working… is this not information they should let you know upon arrival??! I wish I could find one thing I liked about the place but there isn’t ONE. There were weird bugs crawling on me outside and the staff had no personality. Can’t wait to see what replaces it!

Great food and atmosphere that brings a lot of mexican traditions to santa clarita. The menu is packed with mexican favorites with great fresh tortillas and salsa.

Wonderful experience. Drinks, appetizers,food, and service was very good. Squash blossoms and veggie tacos..yum!! It was my first vist and will definitely plan on returning soon. Great looking Restaurant very open and nice bar area.

This restaurant is as authentic as you can get! The flavors of Oaxaca melt in your mouth! You have to try the 4 moles enchilada or asada plate! The tacos with rice& beans are super delicious and a total meal!! Where can you get gourmet Mexican food for such good prices!!! The tacos are $7.99 and rice and beans for $4!!! They do not skimp on the filling either!!! Now, for the best part …the drinks are the BEST around!! The world class bartender is super talented. friendly and generous!!! If you don’t drink — no problema …. The cucumber infused water they serve at your table is delicious!!! Santa Clarita is too lucky to have such an amazing restaurant!! I haven’t been to the mariachi or salsa night yet …. But looking forward to good food and night life in Santa Clarita!!!

Service was terrible. Our waiter was so rude and very impatient. My husband has a traumatic brain injury. He's still healing and although everything looks great on the outisde, internally he needs time to process and patience. He asked simple questions that the waiter seemed he couldn't be bothered by. He acted annoyed and irritated to even serve us. My husband just wanted to make sure he could enjoy his meal without onions. We were first time customers at this establishment. And obviously had questions about the menu. I will say the food was good but definitely overpriced for a single plate that doesn't even include the sides. Rice & beans sold separately. To make up for the missing space on the plate they drown your plate in salsa. Salsa was good tho👍. Rice was good, but they sell it separately to you for 3$ in the tiniest cup you have ever seen.. and then the cup is half full 😆 it is literally a one bite spoonfull of rice. So we paid for 2 bites of rice. Insane. The mocktail lupita was amazing tho. Loved that. I would suggest going to salsa n beer instead. Amazing food, great prices, free chips & salsa & their chorizo beans soon as your seated. Unlimited.. you don't have to order it. The plates are huuuge and come with all your sides. And nice portion of rice.. not a spoonfull. it's the best Mexican food in the valley.. I'll come back for the atmosphere at madres. But thats maybe it. it's beautiful. I just wish the menu was better and the service.
