By far one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Madre! offers a variety of authentic Oxacan cuisine. My absolute favorite are the Madre’s Enchiladas. They are beyond addictive. So many delicious choices to choose from. Their selection of Mezcal and tequila is unmatched. The live music on Wednesday nights really set the mood if you enjoy entertainment with your meal. The outdoor patio area is a fan favorite for our lunchs. I’ve already hosted a few small celebrations at Madre’s and unanimously my guests were highly impressed. I’d like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Odalys and Mark. Odalys has went to great lengths to ensure myself and my party was well accommodated. She personally checked in with us and made us all feel so appreciated and cared for. The combination for savory and sentimental makes Madre! number 1 in my book. Please, don’t take my word for it. Visit today and tell me what you think.

The food was very delicious, but the service of the waitress who served us left a lot to be desired. It was my grandmother's birthday, who doesn't tolerate spicy food at all. We asked the waitress if the dishes we wanted were spicy-free, and she confidently assured us that they were. However, to our surprise, he did not inform the cooks, and the dishes arrived extremely spicy. I don't think they even eat so spicy in Mexico! Although what we were able to eat tasted very good, it was an unpleasant experience not being able to enjoy our dishes in their entirety. Also, considering the bill was quite high ($200), it's disappointing to have had to leave half the meal behind.

THIS RESTAURANT IS TRYING TO STEAL CUSTOMERS MONEY!!! At first when we ordered the food it was good and we ordered 3 fish meals and one of them was raw and I told her to cancel it from the pay check after complaining and she said yes. When we asked for the receipt, she took 20% tip and gave us a receipt with no details and the price was way too much so we asked for a detailed receipt. On the receipt it said extra tip ($80) which we did not put and they didn’t cancel out the raw fish. When we confronted her about the receipt she started lying and saying she didn’t put the tip and for the fish she said that she gave us dessert for it when she literally said she would cancel the fish and that dessert was on the house. When we confronted her even more she took off the 80 dollars and charged us for the dessert ( when she said it’s on the house). This is very disrespectful coming from the manager and also the fact that the server was trying to steal our money. The servers name is ruby. This is called theft!

My wife and I decided to give Madre a try last Saturday. Hands down, the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. There signature dish, enchiladas in mole sauce, I couldn't cut through it with a knife. The meat was tough, dry and flavorless. Perhaps the chef was having an off night, regardless we won't be coming back.

From the drinks to the chips & guacamole to the delicious entrees, we really enjoyed our time at Madre. I had the Branzino in a mole verde sauce, loved the mushrooms hidden in the dish. I had to sample the pickled jalapenos as well. My husband had the shrimp with the sauce on the side, thanks to our wonderful server who mentioned it was on the spicy side. Loved our server, the food and the atmosphere too. We will return for sure!

My boyfriend and I visited today (July 18,2024) and we really enjoyed the restaurant. I tried the Madres’s Enchiladas and I really liked them.
In general the food was excellent and our waitress Vanessa was very nice and friendly. I highly recommend this place ☺️

Casual and modern restaurant with great margaritas! The cocktails are hand crafted with all fresh ingredients. My favorite is the fresh strawberry margarita. They have a cute outdoor patio area. The food here is authentic Oaxacan-style. It’s different from most Mexican restaurants in the area. Their mole sauces are fantastic. Some of my favorites are the tamal de mole, chicken tamale in mole sauce, the Coloradito, New York steak in a chocolate mole sauce, with white rice and broccolini, fish tacos, Chile relleno, fish ceviche, squash blossoms and more. The food is tasty and worth a visit to this authentic Oaxacan-style restaurant. We especially appreciate the great service we have repeatedly received from Michelle, Nesto, Ginger, John & Jessica. They all go above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of. This is one of our go-to spots. We will be back!

We've been wanting to try it, Madre since they opened last year. We love, good, upscale, Mexican food, and our big fans of tequila and mezcal. As vegetarians, we were always a little suspect on what we could eat here. Their menu is helpful labeled with what is available vegetarian or with vegetarian options, but up until recently the main star of the show, their moles, didn't seem to have a vegetarian op after checking again we saw that their Verde mole now had a Vette and we thought OK let's go give it a try.
So we made a reservation, headed on in, we're seated relatively quickly in the main dining area, a lively space which had a live mariachi band playing throughout the evening. This was particularly nice. They weren't wandering from table to table, making it awkward for people, but treated as true performers in a performance space, without being intrusive.
We started with the widely raved about squash blossoms, and they lived up to our hopes and dreams, perfectly and lightly fried with delightful cheese on the inside, a really nice indulgent way to begin the meal.
I had the El Chapo Y Kate Cocktail which was beautiful and generous in size, not overly sweet and lasted me throughout the whole meal. My wife took one of their tequila recommendations, and despite it being a tequila, and not a Mezcal, it also had a smokiness to it and was a unique and perfect recommendation for her tastes. The amount of tequila and Mezcal available at this place is off the hook, and I definitely want to come back and try more.
The things we chose to order besides the squash blossoms were OK, we tried the Mole Verde with its vegetarian option meaning they didn't serve it with fish, but put various vegetables like squash inside it. It was fine, kind of tasty, but as it was a Verde Molé, it was a little more, unique offering than a classic mole experience which we kind of wanted. Unfortunately, none of their other classic dark moles are vegetarian, all made with a meat or chicken stock of some kind. We were also disappointed that the price for this stayed the same since we essentially didn't have a protein on it, it was awfully expensive for what we got.
We also had the vegetarian version of their Tlayuda Doblada which normally comes with a few different kinds of meat in it, but is available vegetarian… Some kind of communication issue with the kitchen had them send it out to us with only vegetables and cheese in it as opposed to the black bean paste that we were hoping for. In the end, it was impressive looking but kind of like a slightly souped up quesadilla with the second version of it, they brought out to us with the black beans paste and cheese. I think we would've been better off sticking to items from the starters menu, including the fried quesadilla and taquitos. This is also very expensive for what we got, especially since the price didn't lower when all of the meats were removed from it.
Our server, and an extra server from the bar took very good care of us. They checked in with us a lot and wanted to make sure that we were happy throughout. We loved the atmosphere of the place. We definitely want to come back and would do so for again, starters and drinks and probably be super happy with those choices. We wish that the entrées they offered were, better priced and suited for our vegetarian needs, and that there was a more traditional mole offering that was also vegetarian so we could have the true Madre experience.
