Flavors! Food had so much flavor!

And most importantly , every plate was served with pride. There is so much for this place to be proud of! This kind of pride starts at the top and trickles down. Congrats and thank you for your attention to detail!

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Waste of time, horrible service. We never got our food. We Decided to leave. My child.was still hungry. Absolutely devastating for a 6 year old no wait and never get his food.

Business doesn’t seem to understand what “reservation” means. We booked a table for 7 at 6:30pm. There was a supposed penalty of $25 per person if we cancelled. By 7:15 with no progress towards being seated whatsoever, we walked away. There’s no compensation for wasting our time so this will have to do. Took our business elsewhere. 1 star for overpromising and underdelivering.

If you want a very average experience for a lot of money then this is your spot. I dont know why I bother but i keep trying to give this place a chance. This is my third time and I have had tepid service and mediocre food each time. I like to shop in the area and enjoy a margarita and a snack when I do. Today my bill was $30 (with my 10% tip) for ONE Watermelon margarita and chips and salsa and a bartender who could barely muster a smile. I just don't understand why this place can not get the service together and why they charge for chips and salsa when you are paying $15 for a drink. I sat at the bar and was prepared to spend three times as much for good food and good service. I promise myself I will not be back. I cashed out and I'm now headed to Mi Cosina for a nice lunch with friendly service.

If there was a way to give negative stars, i would ! I gave this place a second chance even after they poisoned 1/2 of the SCV a while back. Went in for brunch today with my family and it was damn near empty (2 people at the bar & 6 people sitting at two different tables). After waiting for all of our party to arrive, we were seated & unable to order a dish normally sold daily at their restaurant because we were a party of 8 & they have a “different menu” and the regular menu wasnt available to us. INSANE they would do this as we took our party down the road & dropped $$$ at Sabor. Madres - i will never step into your business ever again.

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding our experience at your restaurant today. I brought my family from out of state to Madres, but the service we received was unacceptable.

Upon arrival, it took 15 minutes for any server to acknowledge us. When we were finally assisted, we were informed that because our party exceeded eight people, we were restricted to a set menu. This was frustrating as many of the items we intended to order were unavailable on that menu. When we asked for an explanation, we were told that the cook does not like taking normal menu orders for large groups. This was particularly surprising given that there were only two other small tables occupied during our visit. My family tried giving this place a second chance after giving us food poisoning.

Oh my goodness! This place is amazing. The staff was friendly and welcoming; the food was so very, very delicious. The Mariachi band brought great joy and added to our experience.

I was excited to finally try this place and I was highly disappointed. for starters, the water we were served had floaters in it., So he stuck with Diet Coke because that seemed like the safest option. We waited for over a half an hour to place our food order and we finally decided to leave. We were told that our waitress went to lunch. Nobody else checked on us. They didn’t even seem to care when we told them we wanted our check for the appetizer we had.

Nestor is the best! He’s a great waiter. Food is hit and miss. Best cafe de la olla. Kitchen took a long time but food is good.

With 99% of my friends and family being of Hispanic origin, my wife originally from Guadalajara Mexico with 15 brothers and sisters, I am very accustomed to traditional Mexican and Oaxacan food. From the time we walked in we were politely greeted and told could sit wherever we want. We were made to feel right at home.

Our server came and took our drink order within two minutes. When he returned with our drinks, we ask questions about the type of food. The menu was thoroughly explained, and the style of food was given to us in detail.

We had nothing but the best experience and fully intend on returning on a Friday night for live mariachis, Sunday for brunch, and of course happy hour during the week.

After reading the negative reviews that have been posted we realize that these are reviews given by people that would choose Taco Bell over original style food.

If you have read this review this far, please do not let the negative reviews sway you from coming in! Do not expect that you are coming into a steakhouse for a $300 Wagyu beef. This is not that place. This is a relaxed atmosphere with genuine homestyle food and great service.

This is a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food does take some time to come out, but that’s only because everything is made to order and it was all delicious. The service was great and we will definitely be back again.
Honestly, can’t wait to go back
