We love Dale’s and eat there most Sundays for lunch. The people are so nice, and the food is delicious. The blackberry cobbler is the best! I highly recommend Dale’s.

As soon as we walked in we were hit with a "dirty mop smell" or something that was very unpleasant. We thought about leaving but decided to stay. The waitress was nice and efficient, but the food was subpar. The hushpuppies were extremely greasy, totally inedible. The crab cake was terrible! Very greasy as well. To top it off, we shared a strawberry shortcake and it was just awful. The strawberries were hard, the glaze was a weird pink color and tasted like a cleaning product or soap- just terrible. I haven't eaten here in several months, but I don't think I'll be back. Very disappointing since I have eaten here in the past and it's been fine.

Ordered Country Fried Steak with white gravy and when food arrived the white gravy had a yellowish color to it and tasted horrible. It was awful.

Great catfish and southern fried chicken plates. The sides: mashed potatoes, okra, and cabbage were great. Service was excellent!

Stinks like a diaper in here. Don’t know if it’s a plumbing issue or smelly cleaning chemicals, but it’s bad. That could be overlooked as a temporary issue, but the food is the most bland, generic, microwaved canned hospital food I’ve ever had at a sit down restaurant. Denny’s seems like a step up from this place for sure. I came in here hungry. I tried to eat the appetizer, main dish and sides I ordered, but couldn’t finish any of it. Didn’t want it. Everything was microwaved, cheap and bland. Our sides were served cold. My grits were chunky like they’d been in the fridge for a week. Meatloaf was just a thin ground beef patty with diced tomatoes on top. I try to be reasonable and understanding. I do not leave bad reviews often at all. This experience was deserving of one.

Places to go order 9/16 11:15am. Asked hostess a question. She said she doesn’t speak English…

I eat at Dale's once a couple times a week. Here lately not as good. Points system down or incorrect. Nice people, but not great at English I talked a coworker into getting Shrimp and Grits. Not only were they lumpy, but had a new seasoning and were horrible. I guess new cooks. Very disappointing for $16.44 for each of us.

This is my 3rd time eating here. The first time was ok, I had a certain craving and it was partially satisfied. The second time was a better experience, the fried chicken and tenders were seasoned very well, the yams were ok, not all soft but flavorful and the muffin was delicious. The sweet potato fries were not too my liking, as they were sprinkled with cinnamon. These were to go orders. This last time I called in for pick-up. I ordered a child's tenders and a fried chicken lunch, the amounts were the same for both meals. I've never been to a restaurant that had kid's menus the same price as regular meals. The tenders were mostly fried skins, not seasoned well and very hard, fries soggy and not cooked through. The fried chicken was not seasoned well, the 2 pieces of yam were room temp and very little seasoning. The sautéed mushrooms and onions were not seasoned, very oily and tasted like straight from the can. The muffins were more like muffin tops and were hard. I will not be going back here again. Wasn't able to get other pictures.

Everyone ordered their favorites from this time proven restaurant. My wife and I enjoyed the seafood which is always delicious. Will we be coming back. O yes, because our Sunday School Class will be the next set of friends we'll join at Dale's.

The staff was literally fast walking , they were under staffed . We had an excellent waiter who made great recommendations . The restaurant is clean , not too big as to be noisy . The food was delicious . Recommend the carrot souffle . The staff was very friendly , made us feel welcome and valued . Manager circulated to see that everyone was well looked after and he cleaned away some dishes as well . Great restaurant.

I live nearly 1000 miles away. Was here in October 2018. It was INCREDIBLE!!! The restaurant was packed through closing time. Fresh food, homemade, and plenty of it!!! It was so good we ate here 3 days in a row. We couldn’t wait to come back. Was here on 7-27-21. Nothing was the same. Everything was cheaply made. Nothing was made from scratch. Vegetables were not fresh. Green beans tasted like they open a can and put it in a bowl. Country fried steak was almost all breading and no meat. Peach cobbler was served warm around edge of bowl and as cold as when it was taken out of the fridge in the middle. The Strawberry Shortcake last time was huge, with layers of cream and fresh strawberries. Now the cake was dry covered in the strawberry glaze that comes from a can with a small dash of cream. The customers are gone as well. I do not have any suggestions where to start to change things for Dale’s restaurant. But I will not be back as there are far better options for customers to go to around the Birmingham area.

Being a true southern gal I know southern food. I am from the south and travel a ton. I am a self-proclaimed food connoisseur. The food at Dale's is absolutely not made from scratch nor is it true southern cooking. It tasted like it was all from a can or box. Nothing was tasty at all. Banana pudding is disgusting and again, not southern. Nilla wafers in a bowl with artificial pudding dolloped on top with a few crushed Nilla wafers on top with fake whip cream is not made from scratch/southern banana pudding. Found ourselves trying to figure out what they hype was about because the food was simply not good.....at all. Floor was slippery with a greasy-feel. Almost like they mop the sitting area with the same mop or mop water used in the kitchen. They certainly do not mop with a grease cutting agent. Staff was okay. Steer clear if you want true southern cooking.

Finding comfort food and more complicated food on the same menu is kinda rare these days. It had been years since we had eaten at Dale's (due to a location change on our part). Overall I was pleased. Most of the food we had was very good but a few things were a miss. The chicken fingers were not good and the Chicken Chelsea had an odd aftertaste. Veggies were good as was the cole slaw and dressing. Service was overall good if a little slow (we were in the bartender's section and anywhere you go that means slower service so we expected it). Desserts are a pleasant surprise with a better price than most and better quality.

Simply put, quantity over quality. “Most”restaurants that serve a very extensive list of food items tend to sacrifice the quality of their food. Which proved true in our visit to Dale’s.
