We had to go to Vallejo for an errand and decided to get lunch. Happily, we picked Good Day Cafe. It is an old-school cafe that is open for breakfast and lunch only. I had the BLT on rye which was delicious. They know how to get the bacon just crispy enough. My companion had the cheeseburger and after tasting it, I could not decide which was better...but next time I'm going for the cheeseburger, too. The place is clean; the servers pleasant, efficient and attentive; and, as mentioned, the food is really good.
First time eating here this morning as we were passing through town and found this place on Yelp. Our breakfast was great! I loved the crab omelette and the bacon fried rice. My wife’s breakfast was very good also. She usually doesn’t like restaurants scrabbled eggs but these were excellent and so was her French toast. Staff were very friendly too! I just wish this place was in our hometown!
First let me say that the food was really good- it always is! The service on Sunday, June 1st was spot on! Our waitress was on the ball, super friendly, funny and beautiful!! She even let us take a souvenir. The vibe at the Good Day Cafe is always up beat... everyone comes there - I dare you to try and NOT run into someone you know - absolutely impossible!! The service is NOT always great, but our waitress was amazing!!! The hostess on the other hand was pre-occupied with something on her phone and seemed annoyed that she had to do the job she was hired for. The thing that was most off putting was the fact that I had decided early on to give our waitress a $100 tip - she earned it - but when the check came and the gratuity was already on the check, it made me feel some type of way - tips are EARNED and NOT just given. I was told that it was a service charge for a large party - not sure when a family of five became a large party - you can justify this as a "service charge" if you want to - but I call it thievery, its literally robbing your customers and hiding behind the "service charge" stance. Needless to say our waitress missed out on good money because her employer decided that they'd just add it to our check without making sure the waitress earned it. What if the waitress was horrible? Tipping is NOT mandatory, nor legally required under California Law - tipping is a VOLUNTARY reward based on the type of service received. Wait staff in California make between $16.50 - $19.57 per hour with tips boosting that hourly wage. Should just be happy that California is not like other states where the wait staff is paid $2.13 an hour with tips or $7.25 an hour. You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!! When ENTITLEMENT becomes the norm we are all in trouble!!! We won't be back... sorry not sorry. The Owner, Darrell tried to assure me that his staff assured him that the service charges was only for large parties of six?? We are literally a family of FIVE!!!! I could give you my receipt so I call BS on that - and I applaud him for defending his hostess stating that she uses a tablet to help her work - but I know the difference between a PHONE and a TABLET! I also know the difference between busy and frazzled and just plain annoyed and rude. Finding a loop hole described as a "service charge" to justify stealing is horrible - Nice try though.
Food is amazing. Service is top notch. Needs more of a place for people who are waiting for a table.

Let me preface by saying i think this place is pretty good, i only ordered the Serena omlette both times i was there, so i can't speak for the rest of the food. But, i found it to be very nice and well cooked, personally. However, i went here twice and had an issue with the service both times. The first time, they got my order wrong and gave me a meat side when i asked for a potato. Further, they did not give me the fruit bowl i ordered until i asked about it, but they were very willing to remedy the situation with no exasperation, which was appreciated. The second there was a wait to be seated, which was no problem at all. However, when we got put table, we waited another 15-20 min to have anyone acknowledge us. We weren't offered water or anything, yet the people that came in after us got tended to right away. Once we got our orders taken, it took another 20 min to come out. At this point, we were already here an hour with no food. All in all, i thought that my plate was nice so wasn't wasn't too upset. However, my partner said his plate wasn't anything spectacular, worth the long wait. So when you go, just be mindful of the above. Nothing too bad, it could have just been an off day, but it happened twice. Who knows, you might have a great experience, they are worth giving a try.
Kid-friendliness: They are very child friendly, they even have a basket of art stuff children can take from when they leave

One of our all-time favorites in Vallejo. No real vegan options on the menu, but staff is willing to work with you to so can get something to eat. Unfortunately, like all dining-out establishments today, prices have more than doubled. Two adults and one 8 year old took $80 to eat breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and hashbrowns with 2 coffees and one glass of milk.

Had a meal at Good Day Café and tried their chicken & waffles, pork chop with fried rice, and hot cocoa. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, complementing the fluffy waffles well. The pork chop, however, was too thick and not as tender as expected, making it a bit tough to eat. The fried rice was decent, but nothing special. As for the hot cocoa, it was overly sweet since they used Swiss Miss instead of a homemade or balanced blend.
Overall, the meal was okay—loved the chicken and waffles, but the pork chop and hot cocoa could use some improvement.

Went in not expecting it to be cheap but how do you justify 2 pancakes at 16.50

Cutest stinkin place. Will definitely become a go-to breakfast spot. Server was lovely. Bacon fried rice on a menu is nuts. Portions were great. Everyone in there looked happy.
