The security at Safeway, is severely lacking in training. Tonight I went to shop at this Safeway, just for a salad and salad dressing. As I walked into the store four other customers walked in as well. Upon entering, I immediately headed to the produce department to grab a salad. I was scanning over the salad options, and I noticed out of my left peripheral, a bald security guard with glasses start approaching me and proceeded to hover over me. I alone was in the produce department apart from one single worker who was stacking the salads, so I'm 100% sure he was hovering over me alone, as to imply I am a thief. His reasons for suspicion could only be to infer my wearing a few jackets, due to being cold, or my race is reason alone to warrant such inadvertent and baseless suspicion of being a thief. The private security contractors, Safeway is hiring is down right pitiful. I know the policies of the store and that until a customer has "actually" taken an item from the store and "concealed" it "with intent to steal" are they reasonably due of suspicion. This is a problem across several Safeway locations and I've personally made a formal complaint to headquarters regarding such a case at a different location. Safeway, you need to step it up and do a better selection with your security contractors, this racial prejudice is inexcusable. I will be leaving another format complaint with headquarters. I hope all future customers, won't face this unreasonable and unjustified treatment moving forward at your locations.
Safeway is a very large grocery store, very clean and typically American.

Rude and unprofessional is an understatement
I had a sweet tooth, so we went there to see what I could find on their discount racks... I love the discount racks. They always have what I want.
I must say the Store Manager JESSE has assisted me on two occasions with the first time being the most special to me. He provided top tier customer service as a Florist going above and beyond for a floral arrangement he created when the floral department was closed for the evening. He was patient, very professional, and most importantly he took his time with each rose. The second time I encountered him was when he had provided assistance in the Bakery department after hours. Once again going above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my cake order. I informed him the first time I meet him as the Florist that that is why he has the Manager position because he plays all positions WELL. Once again Jesse thanks for always being and doing your BEST, I will never forget the first time we met that meant a lot what you had created in the floral department for my MOM!
The store is like a psychotic maze. Couldn't figure it out. Had to leave.
Best sushi maker here, always fresh, a lot of choice
The new manager Michelle is unprofessional, rude and treats her employees like trash. She came up to her employees while my husband and I were asking them questions and she yelled/cursed at all of them in front of myself and other employees and customers. When I spoke with some of the employees about her, they stated she gets a lot of HR complaints, is rude to customers on the phone and has no bedside manners. I shop at Safeway daily and many of the employees told me that if I were to go in there again that’s she’d kick me out because I stood up for the staff. Whom so unprofessionally tells their staff those type of comments? Hopefully she gets the training and guidance she needs to be a better leader. As of right now, she’s just an embarrassment to Safeway, women leaders and leaders in general.
Let's say things are getting worse for Safeway and other stores too. They have personal hygiene items locked up. So you need to have someone help you or the cashier. There was only one cashier at the counters doing all the work. The other one was at the self checkout section. The prices are getting higher and higher as in other places. The produce and meat sections look good. They have a Boar's head and a Starbucks within the store.
Didn't have a good experience here today which is a shame cause it's so expensive. You'd think they would give better service considering how expensive it is but apparently not.

And I was waiting in line and a cashier opens up the guy behind goes ahead. I can't blame him but she should have called out "next" and instead just speaks to him in Spanish

The store has really declined in service. Also the very basics are locked up and it takes almost five minutes to wait for assistance to unlocked dental flossers. I am going back to Winco in Vacaville.
Never have more than 1 or 2 checkers open with long lines usually
Great place to go if you'd like to get assaulted by a homeless man or by the security guard who will tell you, "Does this badge say Safeway" when first entering the building. All of these positive reviews are fake, this location is famous for shootings and stabbings. It's gotten so bad they don't even allow you to exit the building without walking to the opposite corner of the store.
Somebody needs to fire the young, tall, skinny, African-American security guard (who wears a beanie that makes him look like he's going to rob the place) before he causes a serious conflict. I'm a light-skinned African American man and I've never felt so enraged by being a grocery store. I've had homeless people call me slurs while stealing donuts and this man will laugh and watch.

It was horrible! Because of that In and Out Burger place it's made the parking lot hard to maneuver around and it just seems dirty in that store now and especially at the check out counter. But the employees were very nice. The shelves still looked picked threw and not stocked at all and you couldn't see into the frozen doors on the frozen food isles. Actually it still looked like they never recovered from the covid pandemic. I probably will not be going back to shop there again. Also their prices are a lot higher than other grocery stores. You pay more for a lot less. Shopping there today put my partner and I both in bad moods. I imagine tomorrow new yrs Eve will be a lot worse than it was today.
Staff kept to themselves, I said," happy Holidays," nobody replied they just looked at us! Yes! I said it again, walked out. What's really going on???
