Smoked BBQ pork was pretty tasty.
The service was horrendously slow. I think we spent 4 hours there, mostly waiting for our food or waiting to order.
Our dining experience fell short of expectations, particularly regarding service and attention to detail. While the food quality was adequate, several service issues significantly impacted our visit.
Our party of nine was seated promptly during a relatively quiet period. However, we had to request service multiple times before our order was taken. Food delivery proved problematic—after a 30-minute wait, seven meals arrived together, but two diners were left waiting. Despite repeated inquiries, one guest finally received her soup while another never received his entrée at all.
The billing process revealed additional concerns. At least two items were overcharged compared to menu prices, and resolving these discrepancies required considerable time and effort from our server. Most disappointing was the absence of management intervention—no manager approached our table to acknowledge the issues or offer any resolution.
To what seemed to be nestled in the middle of very small town, excellent vibe eating at the restaurant ans enjoying cocktails at the bar!
We were so impressed with our lunch at Rocker’s Roadhouse (in Valley Ford) that we didn’t hesitate to entrust them with the rehearsal lunch for our daughter’s wedding—hosting a party of 20. They exceeded every expectation. The food was incredible, the staff warm and attentive, and the relaxed atmosphere made everyone feel right at home. The local oysters were delicious both cooked and raw, but the real star was the fried chicken—unanimously declared the best any of us had ever tasted, even by friends from Kentucky! Whether you’re stopping in for a casual lunch for two or planning a larger gathering, Rocky Roadhouse delivers on every level. They clearly know how to take care of guests.
Stopped in after a long trip away from home. This is one of the best ways to celebrate West County food. Had a special, local caught black cod on polenta. Paired it to a nice local sauv. My wife got Cajun shrimp pasta and a gin apple shrub. Just delightful! It was just at sundown, the evening was still warm, so we ate on the patio. Spacious and well lit. Definitely coming back, and would love to check out their happy hour. -J

I am a lifetime Californian, but I had never been to Valley Ford until my wife and I stayed here over the weekend. We stayed at the Inn just above the restaurant, so we stopped here for dinner. It was lovely. The vibe is simple and sophisticated, with every detail, from the art to the settings, clearly chosen with purpose.
The service was excellent, and our server, Ashley (?), was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and worth the price. We had the shrimp salad, clam chowder, and pasta with blackened chicken, and we were highly satisfied!
We will be back.

I went to the restaurant at lucas wharf but this place shows up on my bank credit card online. The fish and chips were good the hazy iPa very good, the Cole slaw tasted off someone should taste it daily, or change the Recipe.
The best BBQ oysters I’ve ever had. Honestly had no idea cooked oysters could be this good!

Busy summer Saturday with lots of Out of Town Tourists so I get it. Our bartender/waitress was so on-point but the food was very disappointing. I was hopeful with the new revamping and new ownership. The creative and beautiful descriptions on the updated menu had me so intrigued but what was brought to the table fell short. But Boy! The prices packed a punch! Sad to taste super old tired and bitter iceberg for the ‘wedge salad. No bacon. No blue cheese. A creative spin on a non-creamed based clam chowder missed the mark. The kitchen staff and prep/menu still needs a bit of tweeking. I will not return and am bummed about that

Ok I'm confused as to some of the other reviews because my wife and my experience was not good.
First off we drove from Sacramento to spend a day at the ocean which was wonderful ... a perfect day. It was my wife's Birthday so we just wanted to make a day of it, topping it off with some good fresh local seafood. We actually were going to eat at Fishiterian but once we got there we realized we wanted something just a little less casual. So on our way back to the car we walked by Rocker which looked closed from the outside. Seriously we almost kept walking until my wife pulled on the front door and surprise, they were open. So we went in and got seated next to a windows which was great. Nice dock with fishermen unloading fresh catches and we're thinking oh boy this is going to be good.
Our server Autumn by the way was great! No complaints whatsoever. She was pleasant, friendly, efficient... just great.
Ok so to get to the point here ... we ordered the Crab and Artichoke Cakes for an app to share, Clam Chowder for each of us, and my wife ordered the Crab Louie and I had the Fish and Chips.
Crab and Artichoke Cakes... had some predominant spice that we could not identify but it overtook the Cakes. No Crab or Artichoke taste just this mystery spice.
Clam Chowder... very little Clams, mostly little chunks of potato and a little pile of bacon. And yet another mystery spice that we could not identify that completely took over the Chowder ... was driving us crazy when we finally asked our server Autumn who said we were the second people that afternoon who asked the same thing. She went back and asked the chef. Guess what? Fennel! Lot's of Fennel. In Clam Chowder? Crazy, never have had that in Chowder... we didn't finish it.
Wife's Louie was fresh but for the price not much Crab... we compare to Skomas in San Francisco but maybe that's unrealistic. Lot's of lettuce though.
My Fish and Chips were humongous... two huge pieces with fries. Fish inside the batter was great. The batter was OK... credit that it was not greasy. Fries were ok.
Overall for spending over 140.00 including the tip for the two of us, I would not go back.
Now I do believe the chef's heart is in the right place but execution on the items we ordered was not good. The star of the meal needs to be the freshness of the fish, the taste
No weird spices or anything else. I have no problem paying top dollar for good food but it has to be good, not just ok. And you know, I still tip generously unless service is noticeably bad, which it wasn't.
So my apologies to this establishment for leaving this kind of review which I have never done before. In fact I can't remember the last time I had a bad meal.
