Delicious Sri Lankan food! I am a Sri Lankan myself and was delighted to be able to taste a bit of home. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. The devilled chicken was my favourite. The string hopper pilau was really good too with such great flavoured chicken curry. We live in the Bay but will definitely visit again when we are back in LA. Highly recommend!
Easy 5 stars! Sri Lankan Cuisine has become a new favorite of mine since trying Apey Kade, and Kurrypinch solidified that. The Deviled Chicken was excellent! It had an amazing blend of spice, tang and crisp. It paired well with the fried rice, which had a nice zest to it. The rotti was solid, and the sauce it came with was outstanding. I’d describe it as a sweet chutney ketchup.I didn’t eat in the restaurant, but when I walked inside to pick up my order it was nicely renovated and had a decent amount of tables.Hugh recommendation from me! I’m excited to go back!
The Service: It was such a pleasure meeting Chef Shaheen in person. I could feel his passion for his food and his creativity on his dishes not only the presentation but the taste/flavor as well. I have also chatted with the owner who is also a foodie! She is so welcoming and really wants to introduce an authentic Sri Lankan cuisine to her community. The staff is very attentive and professional. The service is absolutely wonderful. Very pleasant dining experience! The Food: My first time trying Sri Lankan cuisine. Super excited! Thanks to Chef & the owner's recommendations, I got to try their traditional dishes without traveling there!Appetizers - highly recommended the puff pastry with creamy potato filling. Also, the potato veggie croquettes, great vegetarian choice! Love the plating presentation!Kurry Beef Sandwich is such a perfect picnic food. Next time I will definitely pack it for my Hollywood Bowl concert. Their French roll is crunchy and the angular & cucumber totally compliment the beef. BTW, love the house sauce with my curly fries!Kurrypinch String Hopper Pilau, the shrimps are so flavorful and the steamed thin rice flour noodles are so light. Totally in love with their noodles!Fried Rice + Deviled Chicken, Very interested to try their version of fried rice, they use many different ingredients and spices in it. Not overpowering at all. It goes so well with the lightly fried chicken sauteed with house spicy garlic & chilli sauce. Such a comfort food!Kurrypinch Grill Chicken, the most creamy mashed potatoes I have ever tried. Huge portion, big piece of chicken with kale salad on the side (the dressing is super refreshing). The
Parking: Free parking spots in rear. Use the side street (next to auto shop) to the back of the restaurant. Street metered parking as well.
Delicious food. Server was helpful in recommending dishes. I highly recommend the croquettes and milk tea with ginger!
As a Sri Lankan who has lived in the U.S. for 11 years, the food here made me feel like I was eating back home. Every dish was a delicacy full of flavor and authenticity. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The location and atmosphere was also very welcoming. I cannot wait to come back again!!
Kurrypinch - used to be in Van Nuys -now in a location with nice ambiance. Finally, a nice Sri Lankan restaurant! Open and airy. There is parking outback and meter parking in front of restaurant. Went for dinner with friends and place was empty except for one other table. ( Rhey have just moved and it was a Tuesday) All menus are accessed with your phone. They do need some paper ones for those that cannot use that technology. There is nice overhead music ( would be nice to hear some occasional Baila) and a screen that shows beautiful pics of the island of Sri Lanka. The food was good. The string hopper pilau was Tasty and colorful ( mine was too spicy for me) and I had it with Shrimp curry. Others had theirs with chicken curry, calamari ( cuttlefish) curry and fish curry. We had individual servings of watalapam for dessert. It was a little cold but good and sweet. The wait staff was OK - still learning to be attentive but very nice. They close at 8 and we were actually late leaving but they were very nice and did not rush us. Prices are very reasonable and I will definitely go again. Thanks for making such a nice space with great Sri Lankan food. Nice people and good food!
Great prices, easy street asking & excellent customer service. Perfect for Vegetarian & non Vegetarian. Spicy Sri Lankan cuisine with a twist. Call ahead or order through ChowNow. New location now in Tarzana, you can Google it.
Vegetarian options: Lots of Vegetarian options
Hands down "The Best" Sri Lankan fusion you'll find in all of LA, IMHO.Central location, trendy venue, gracious host, super friendly staff and an amazingly talented & visionary chef! Not to mention the food!! Lamb Koththu is to die for ? You will not leave disappointed.
Had Sri Lankan food for the first time and it was really great and affordable. I had kottu roti and fried rice with deviled chicken and I can surely tell you it was a worthy meal. Surely the best restaurant for Sri Lankan cuisine in Los Angeles. It is a brand new place and the ambience is amazing. Also, the staff is very friendly and the service I got was very pleasant. Hats off to Damian, host of the house. Surely coming back here!
A very clean and neat joint that serves good Sri Lankan food. The food was excellent and so was the service. We had the 'Deviled Chicken fried rice' and 'Fried Chicken Kottu Rotti' and also their dessert 'Watalappan'. Just we need to be careful on the spice level as Sri Lankan cuisine is very spicy, so better to start off in 'Medium Spicy' and upgrade if required. We did go all the way to 'Sri Lankan Spicy' and we could handle it. I will be definitely visiting again.

Best Sri Lankan food in LA. I had a chicken kottu and my friend had a deviled chicken fried rice, both were excellent. Brand new place looks beautiful Inside. Ready for any occasion!
We had String hopper pilaf and Grilled chicken combo. The chicken dish was okay but they used plenty of MSG on both dishes and too much on the String hopper pilaf. It’s just another restaurant food and tastes nowhere near authentic traditional cuisine. Spices represent a significant part of Sri Lankan relishes. In fact, with having all the Ceylon spices consisting of plenty of rich-flavored seasonings, I don’t see a reason for using tons of MSG.
Shaheed has a gem of a restaurant! My first meal at Kurrypinch was awesome grilled salmon 1/2 rice & mash with mint tea it was delicious ? yummyRestaurant is very clean and the staff was helpful with the menu. Highly recommended Enjoy!
The BEST Sri Lankan food outside of Sri Lanka. It's amazing food in general too (even when one doesn't know about Sri Lankan cuisine). I'm a vegetarian and I had so many options. But the meat eaters are in for an even more mind blowing treat! To top it off, the staff is so genuinely kind, nice and caring. Really well portioned and perfect in every way food.
Went to this beautiful hidden gem Sri Lankan restaurant Kurrypinch for lunch, which provided all authentic flavors and tastes.Kottu roti( Godamba otherwise called kothu parotta) with fried chicken is an amalgamation of chopped roti with vegetables and cubed fried chicken is zesty with the right elements of all spices.Rice with Chicken curry is like a platter kind of Indian style thali. Along with the rice, the vegetable curries on the side are unique and distinct to me. Beetroot curry dazzled with redness is soft and tasty. The strings of bean curry glazed with oil all over are like a pickled flavor when mixed with rice. The sauteed green aka kale salad, but when you have it with rice, it gave you the good feeling of mixed greens in your mouth with coconut flavor, as it has some coconut in it.Jack fruit curry, a gravy curry has all those tastes needed to perfectly have it with rice or roti.Pol rotti , a coconut mixed flour is something different, probably the first time like a roti with chicken curry. The pumpkin curry is like oh man! It's been ages that I had pumpkin curry and a bite ofIt made me go into thoughts. When was the last time that I had pumpkin curry? The food rumination still went on until I completed but still the memory didn't come back. Daal is good but for me, other ones conquered this one.Fried rice with egg is like street-side fried rice. As soon as you take a spoon full of rice, the spices along with the egg gave more taste to the mouth. Finally, the lunch ended with dessert, Sri Lankan sweet, Watalappan ; creamy coconut egg custard with jaggery. We ordered egg fried rice but instead of egg they served vegetarian, the chef came specially to our table to owe sorry and later brought back egg fried rice though we resisted no need to bring as we liked the fried rice even without egg. We see rare instances of these chefs being so modest and giving additional curries that I liked as usually, we hear it's a additional charge if we order extra. Thank you to the chef that made the more special to the food.
