So I heard that it’s not just a favorite among Nigerian celebrities but also African celebrities visiting LA. Finally had the chance to try it myself today, and it lived up to the hype! Saw even an Asian woman ordering, which shows how amazing the food is lol Despite living far, I finally made the trip and was thoroughly impressed, especially by the signature pepper goat! Omg it is sooooo good! And soooo Tender! I’d say order that as a side plate! The rice, stew fish, the soups! Got me two types with my fufu! Like everything is top notch. Couldn't resist trying the pepper goat pie too! I might as well! Hahaha lol Ended up ordering enough to last me till Monday The customer service is excellent, with friendly staff. “This place is truly a hidden gem. So much flavor and the menu is full of amazing items. I've had pretty much everything on the menu by now and they are so consistent. Great service too always sweet and professional. My to die for items is the Adana kebab and the fried cheese pastry (can remember what it's called) but it's an hot appetizer and it's so freaking good you'll eat the whole damn plate by yourself. I also love that they allow you to order appetizers either full portion or half. This way you can get a ton of mini appetizers and have a feast. :) love this option me and my husband always take advantage and order a ton of appetizers”

“We are self recognized sushi snobs and this is our new go to place. They have rolls similar to what we find at Got Sushi in Northridge but for a better price. The quality is right up there with other top notch places. The service is on point. It's a small place so just one waitress when we've gone, but she is always on top of everything and the food comes out of the open kitchen quickly.”

The service was done on time and the lady manager was more than friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is great too - nice music, cozy sits and ambient light wanna make you come back. “I contacted Misah regarding catering for my birthday party for 30 people. From the very start, Misah and his staff were polite, professional, and friendly. My wife took me to the restaurant for lunch to sample the food a couple of days before the party. Misah was very nice in person as well. The food was freshly prepared and very delicious. All the sides were good as well; the lentil soup, cucumber yogurt, and hummus. He offered us free desserts to sample. Their homemade baklava is so good. When they prepare your catering order, they cook the kabob close to your pickup time so that it is hot and fresh when you get home. They use very good quality containers for transporting the food. Our party guests loved the food so much that we barely had any leftovers for the next day. We will definitely eat at Chelo in the future. It is a small hidden gem in Van Nuys.”

Personally I don't understand the few haters who wrote negative reviews on this place - all I can say is this place tops every single Armenian food and catering business we've ordered 10s of thousands of service/food from! In summary we loved everything about the place - quality of food, service, ambiance, and will recommend it unequivocally to all friends and family. “Their food is great. The molcajete can be shared between three that's how big I felt it was. Their drinks are delicious I got one drink it came in a coconut it was sweet and creamy it had so much juice they had to bring it in a separate cup. Their micheladas preparadas are good too they put shrimp around it. Sometimes it can be very packed depending on what time you go but it's worth it and the environment it's always friendly, both times I came I got to listen to mariachi”

The burgers are pretty small so I would order 2 of them to fill you up. The owner Bill is also a WW2 Veteran and still works there!”

The lady who helped me was incredibly nice and offered some extra salsa (the spicy salsa was perfect). “My go-to place for food at Anime Expo and other anime events. I always enjoy their katsu curry sandwich. The chicken cutlet has a nice balance of crispy and juiciness and goes well with the curry. They sometimes also have other items as well, such as the yanki burger and curry rice, that are just as delicious and filling as the sandwich. Recently, at AX Chibi 2023, I tried out the okonomiyaki fries since Okamoto Kitchen was out of the katsu curry sandwich. It is like chili fries except the fries are topped with okonomiyaki toppings such as ginger, JP style mayonnaise, and okonomiyaki sauce. The okonomiyaki fries are now of my new favorites from this place. It has a delightful balance of sweet and savory. The fries were also crispy and weren't soggy. If you're at an event like Anime Expo, I recommend visiting Okamoto Kitchen before or after lunchtime/dinnertime because the lines become long, and you will have to wait a while. One important tip is that during Anime Expo and other events like it, they only accept credit and debit cards. Be prepared for that. Furthermore, if there is an item that you absolutely want, I recommend visiting the booth ASAP as some popular food items like the Katsu Curry sandwich sell out by the end of the day.”

They usually have the red wet burrito but I ask for it to be custom made in green Salsa with extra cheese and sometimes carne asada with shrimp. My most favorite breakfast choice here are the: "Chilaquiles Rojos" Combo. It's really good.My husband's favorite dish is the "Bistec Talpatiqueño" Combo. It comes with macaroni salad, 2 quesadillas. Also their fresh aguas frescas are really good. They have: Melon, Sandia, Horchata, Jamaica. Some could be available. It varies on the day.The seating is good to dine in either for couples, a small family and also a bigger crowd. Service is great, friendly- family oriented. Your food is ordered Infront, if you dine-in waitress or waiter will take it to your table. They have restrooms outside behind the building.”

Even though I got a new piece to replace the other one, I really think that managers and staff members should inspect meats when being served to prevent any inconvenience in the future. And I still paid full price. I think it should have gotten a discount besides the fact that it had gotten replaced, though.”

“There is no other Korean BBQ in my opinion that taste as good as this place.With that being said they are very expensive but worth every penny.Sometimes I bring my son and he doesn't want to eat anything but white rice and even though on the menu it says that everyone sitting down will be charged the waiters and waitresses let us get away with it. That's the reason why we keep coming back because we want to bring everyone here and not everyone wants to eat the unlimited. So this makes it worth it for us so we can all be there as a family.You do want to check the gratuity charges first. To make sure you're comfortable with the way they do things here. Me personally I don't believe that anyone should charge gratuity up front not till after the service is rendered. Because what if you get horrible service and you're already charged for it that's not right.But with all that being said I recommend this place if you're looking for a amazing Korean barbecue. Doesn't take too long to get your food, but as everything is made fresh, it might be 5-15 minutes depending on what you order. Smart to put in an order first, then do some grocery shopping as you wait ?You can't go wrong with a yuzu slushie, some rice cakes and a half-n-half noodle dog. In van Nuys it can be hard to find quick food that doesn't make you feel like death the next day, and this spot definitely fits the bill for feeling good and also great tasting food. Also, the owners are both really nice and always remember my order and my dog. I've eaten food from other Thai spots close by and definitely felt suspect the next day, so yeah-- shout out to you guys for not poisoning your food with flavor additives and also making amazing dishes. Of course their Galbi is the centerpiece of their menu but every dish is unique and resembles what I had in Seoul. The dishes are perfectly measured while the banchan is adequately similar to those in other similar restaurants. What separates Greenland is the nuances that make their dish a little uniquely from the Korean palate. The ambience is simple, but if you look around especially during their busy time, you see a mixture of Koreans and a spectrum of people packing this place. So, if you're starving for some Korean, come to Greenland and taste the dishes that makes them uniquely Korean.”

Every summer, I make an appointment with Mary 2-3 weeks prior to my birthday and she always is eager and ready to bring my ideas to reality in her creative space. Even after we have finalized all the details, she will contact me a couple times prior to the pick up date just to verify the details or to suggest new ideas. I have purchased my birthday cake every year for the last 4 years at Helena Wirth Cakes. This year for my 30th Birthday, I came to Mary very excited for my 30th birthday cake. The cake is themed with ideas from my favorite TV series. Once again, she created the perfect cake for my birthday and made my 30th birthday very special! She is an Amazing Woman and her business produces perfect Cakes!”

The loaded fries themselves were also full of flavor, with the jalapeños on top adding a good amount of spice. I wish they would add more cheese, and I usually don't like loaded fries that have regular shredded cheese instead of the melted nacho cheese, but these were really tasty even without that! I just couldn't be mad with what I received, especially because the asada meat I got on top was also flavorful, which can be rare to find at other places that have loaded fries. Everything was really great, and I can't wait to come back here again!”

If I want something lighter, I get the hwedupbap bowl, which is essentially a sashimi salad. It comes with a side of white rice, gochuchang sauce, and miso soup. For rolls, I like the Dragon Roll and Rainbow Roll. This is the perfect place to pick up lunch or dinner on your way home. Call ahead to place your order, and food is ready in 10-15min. We ordered the ribeye to start and if you read the fine print you can only order 1 steak per 2 people. You can order 4 meats at a time so we got kalbi, bulgogi, and brisket as well. The bulgogi was very lightly marinated but still packed a ton of flavor and of course the brisket and kalbi were delicious.I was surprised that the ribeye and New York steaks came out cooked at medium rare temperature, but I like that it saved us so much time from having to cook it ourselves as it is a 90 minute time limit.I don't like wasting food so I appreciated that the banchan was brought out upon request. The japchae, fish cakes, cucumber, and steamed egg were great.For drinks, we ordered yogurt soju and kloud beer. Everything was priced as you'd expect in a restaurant, which is of course at a higher mark up. I do hope in the future they can consider adding Beatboxes because they're inexpensive and fun to drink.The service was great. “Norms restaurant is a popular place but it just so happens that on that particular day I went my steak was good but I had asked for well done but when I was at my last bite it was still raw. Even though I got a new piece to replace the other one, I really think that managers and staff members should inspect meats when being served to prevent any inconvenience in the future. And I still paid full price. I think it should have gotten a discount besides the fact that it had gotten replaced, though.”

The quality is right up there with other top notch places. The service is on point. It's a small place so just one waitress when we've gone, but she is always on top of everything and the food comes out of the open kitchen quickly.”

The service was done on time and the lady manager was more than friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is great too - nice music, cozy sits and ambient light wanna make you come back. I paid $30 total. Good and affordable sushi spot for a date or to meet with friends. Highly recommended for people who like Japanese cuisine ?”

“This is my favorite place to get breakfast in the valley and that's saying a lot because I don't like to go north of victory Blvd when I'm in van nuys. There's usually too many police floating around. But I will gladly duck and dodge those jackholes for the French toast this place makes! They have several different kind and they're all good. I usually get the granola crusted French toast but today I just got regular French toast and I wasn't disappointed! Every time I've ever been here there has been a wait, but it's worth it. This is one of the top 3 places to get French toast in the valley, trust me, that's all I ever order. This is also one of the only places in the entire valley that has turkey bacon!”
