“I sometimes go on Mondays for karaoke. There's not a lot of gluten-free food, if you need that, but they do have great salad and are more than happy to work with you. The staff is friendly and you may get to meet Ben Onyx Dowdy from Abbott Elementary (among other things) because he usually runs the karaoke.“

The interior is a little bland and it’s not very cozy but the large bar area is nice especially for socializing. Hannah served us and she was friendly and attentive. I ordered a skinny margarita and she made it very well. Nice and skinny how I like it! My second drink, I ordered a glass of the champagne from the happy hour menu and I enjoyed it because it was extra brut nice and dry, but served in a tiny tiny glass. We had an order of the jalapeño cheese sticks and they were pretty darn good but really lacked presentation. Good happy hour prices. Might be back to try some more of their food. Love the happy hour!“

“The burgers are amazing and a hidden treasure because it's honestly one of the better burger places in all of LA. Good beer for a good price. Food is a bit overpriced for the area but at least portion sizes make up for it. Small location so it can feel a bit dead depending what time you go.“

As a Local Guide, I've seen my fair share of sports bars, but the lively atmosphere here really stands out. With plenty of well-maintained pool tables and screens everywhere, it’s the perfect place to grab some drinks, enjoy some classic pub fare, and catch a game. The service is surprisingly fast and friendly, even on busy weekend nights when the place gets packed. Whether you're a serious pool player or just looking for a laid-back night out in Los Angeles, this place is a genuinely solid choice. “Chick & Burger nailed the flavor but left me wishing for a little more. This is a small business with heart, and the woman who took my order was kind and welcoming. I genuinely hope they thrive. I’d also encourage the owners to engage with their Google reviews and hear the feedback, because it’s clear people want them to succeed. The food is already delicious, and with a few thoughtful tweaks, they could easily be a five star spot.

The fried chicken sandwich was a standout. Juicy, tender, full of flavor, and balanced perfectly with honey butter and light mayo. The bun held up, and the whole thing felt intentional, like someone cooked it with care. Honestly, one of the best chickens I’ve had anywhere. The bibimbap was also clean and comforting, no strange flavors, just solid balance. But the portion was small. I got both dishes thinking I’d have lunch and dinner, and ended up finishing the bibimbap quickly because there weren’t enough vegetables to round it out. For a dish that usually shines because of its mix and volume, that part felt underwhelming.

The meal came to $35.01 for take out, which isn’t bad for the quality, but the value didn’t fully match the flavor. A little more generosity with the portions, especially the vegetables or the slaw in the sandwich, would make a real difference. Still, the care shows, and I’d come back for that chicken in a heartbeat.“

“UBG is the best place for great food and drinks and the best music scene around town. The owner Greg and the entire staff are awesome. It is homey but also Hollywood flavor! So many great events here. Any day of the week you can be sure to find something cool happening here. My band Bonnie Brae has made it a home away from home and just LIVE it here. So much great live music and variety! Comedy-jams-original music-you name it it all happens here.“

“I stopped here to watch the Dodgers World Series game 1. This is the local dive bar, the crowd was loud but the Dodgers had a walkoff home run so I was expecting some noise. Pool table was old school, only a quarter to play with a chalkboard of who’s next. I had a fun evening and the lady behind the bar bought me a beer, how often does that ever happen. A five star evening for me!“

“I’ve been coming to this spot since it was the Celtic Raven, and I happened to walk in on Chela’s Cantina during its soft launch. I’ve been a regular ever since day one. The owner is phenomenal, and the crowd it attracts is just as great! friendly, welcoming, and full of good vibes.

There’s always something to do here: enjoy music, grab some food and drinks, hop on karaoke, or play a round of pool. While the alcohol selection is smaller compared to bigger bars, it actually introduced me to wine spirits and gave me a new appreciation for trying something different.

If you’re looking for a small, local atmosphere with a strong sense of community, I highly recommend Chela’s Cantina. It’s truly a hidden gem!“
