I was excited to try Way Station...a classic diner, very good prices, and just basic breakfast food, nothing fancy....just what you need every now and then! Unfortunately, my excitement to be here wasn't matched with the experience provided. I came with my son and we were seated fairly quickly. Outside tables were available too (though it was a little chilly for our tastes so we opted for inside.) There's a big sign that says "wear a mask" at the front door and the staff who greeted us and took our order were all masked. I had coffee and my son had lemonade. He liked the lemonade...generous pour with a full, separate cup of ice. The coffee was, at best, browned water...This is the lowest possible standard for diner coffee...Warm? Yes. In a nice mug? Yes. Brown? Yes. Any flavor? None at all. A breakfast place, to be at all legitimate has to have good coffee. The coffee here is not good. While sipping it I noticed neither of the cooks was wearing their masks properly. One had it around his chin with both his nose and mouth exposed. The other only had his mouth covered with his nose exposed. The first one had no gloves of any kind on and I saw him touch his mouth with his hand, then reach down to put food on a plate. He was also using his bare hand to add cheese to the dish. I understand different people have different preferences and comfort levels when it comes to health and safety...but it's literally the law of the land that food workers have to wear masks. In the midst of a global pandemic that has killed almost a million people, there's no excuse whatsoever for a cook to not be wearing a mask while preparing food. Not to mention touching his face and then plating the food. As much as I appreciate a classic diner, a dingy one even, I felt like I was taking a risk by eating food they would serve here. We left some money on the table for the drinks and informed our server we wouldn't be able to stay and left. I can't imagine ever setting foot in Way Station again after witnessing such flagrant disregard for mandatory health protocols. (Not to mention the lack of common sense on display by the cooks.)

We have been here lots of times over the years, but this last time was not great, barely good. Had the corned beef and eggs with hash browns and English muffin. The corned beet was flattened with probably a brick and was so thin it was one large frisbee. Not good. The hash browns were almost mashed potatoes, not hashed at all. Just globs of overcooked potatoes. English muffin was like a rock. Also had ham steak and eggs with hash browns. Ham steak was thick huge and was average in taste. Maybe microwaved? Hash browns overcooked, eggs were good though. Don’t know if we will be back. Too bad, it used to be really good.

Amazing. Cute and eclectic dinner. Kris special with chicken gravy is a huge plate that fills you up and something you won't find anywhere else. The line is worth the wait.

I've been going here over 20 yrs and everytime I'm in town I make it a point to come back ... the food is great and the portions are good.

This place is old and crusty around the edges in a good way. It is old and shabby in a way other places wish they were. There is a mound of bacon pre-cooked and waiting. A huge mound. Ditto with the hash browns. But these people know how to churn out hash browns. Good hash browns that are like grandma and great grandma used to make. These are not the half cooked excuse for hash browns that Denny’s churns out. These are good enough to make you cry for days gone past. This is food and a lot of it. They butter your toast without asking or handing you rock hard butter. It is food that only a true cook can make. Real eggs. Real bacon. Real potatoes. Thick omelettes covered in chili that are delicately browned. Real cheese sprinkled on top, not slices of cheese food. Worth the stop, but get there when they open or be ready to wait. Prices are so low that you might think the food is cheap. Trust me, it isn’t. You will leave full with your wallet still bulging. It is worth twice the price.

Great classic find in Newhall. CA. Basic diner food type stuff. Like something out of the 1950s without being retro chic.

Pretty good. I will be going back.

Since the change in ownership the Chinese food has ultimately declined from what it was 5yrs ago. The price is not worth what you get now. I've never loved this place but my husband has loved it since his childhood.
