Cha Cha Matcha (VENICE)

Such a fun spot in Venice! The vibe is super bright and welcoming and the staff made me feel right at home. I tried the strawberry matcha (amazing!) and the matcha lemonade which was very refreshing. Definitely a place I’d come back to whenever I’m in the area.

Kind of confused by our experience, it was pretty much empty when we got there, it was our first time in Venice Beach so we were really excited. The cafe was the cutest one we’ve ever been to and the matchas tasted very good but the two girls taking our orders ignored us, didn’t look at us or acknowledge us and when I went up to grab the drinks they looked at me and then to each other and one of the girls sarcastically said “i think we have a rat infestation and need to close” and then laughed. I’m not sure if they were calling us rats but it was definitely odd and uninviting. really good drinks though

I was really looking forward to the matcha with raspberry, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype. Still, the place is super cute and the decor is lovely!

As a matcha lover coming from east Asia, I was thrilled to see the trend of matcha is now spreading across the globe and found a such a matcha shop with adorable interior designs. Reviews from the Google also suggesting drinks are adorable with matcha powders on top (with palm trees designs), it made me to think it would be a wonderful idea to spend a relaxing afternoon in here.

Well, it turned out to be an unpleasant afternoon ;(

When I ordered my drinks, I showed the pictures from google reviews (depicting palm tree design made with matcha powder on top) the emotionless cashier (blonde hair with tanned skin) and she replied, “no, we don’t have such products now,”in a cold tone, though disappointed, it happened so I asked her advice on which products would she recommend. She didn’t answer my question directly, but looking at my phone screen again and replied, “it seems to be a hot matcha latte.” “So you gonna order hot matcha latte?” She asked. I doubted she just wanted to close the conversation with me and not gonna introducing the various items on the wall. I can’t help myself but to think how much she hates her job here.

“Sweetness level? Milk option?” She asked. There were various dairy and vegetarian milk alternatives available in the store but without naming them by the staff, well, she just looked at me without smiling and paused for my answer. So I left no choice but to turn my head to the side wall and studied the menu again. Such an embarrassment.

It was a quiet afternoon and no one was lining up in front of cashier so it surprised me that the unnecessarily urgent order taking process she intended to, and emotionless, upset face she turned to me. It almost seemed to be me was she just long facing me, without any reason.

I thought I received more welcome greetings from the Starbucks staff earlier today than here.

After all, I received my hot matcha latte (unsweetened, dairy). Taste like the instant matcha powder I purchased from the supermarket in Japan. The difference was, I stirred it by hand and they stirred the power with a machine. Interesting.

The black hair older lady with the blue/green eyes(32-37 maybe) is rude and has horrible energy and customer service. The drink is really good but her attitude would deter me from coming back. She worked July 29 along with a much younger lighter haired girl.

Cha cha Matcha literally has the BEST matcha I have tried in LA. Their lavender syrup is my favorite and it is unlike any other. Ever since I went last summer I’ve been obsessed.

Always love being served by Henry!! He consistently carries a positive and energetic vibe. Very fun to chat with as well!! Also very thoughtful in his matcha making and will ask questions in effort to be better!
