Everything was perfect. Appetizers, entrees, wine, and ambiance were amazing. Waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable!

For some reason, most of Gjelina’s food is too sour. Salmon toast is too sour. The Wagyu Beef brisket sandwich is too sour. In fact, extravagantly splashing of vinegar/ lime/lemon seems to be the theme of Angeleno food. It could otherwise be much better.

Amazing restaurant with so good food. I've never imagined that anyone cook pizza or vegetables so tasty. Book a table in advance. Also visit their other place Gjena near by for a breakfast.
Must try - pizza, eggplant, Japan potato.

The service was stellar and everyone's food was amazing. Sometimes even simple dishes brought to another level.

We ate at Gjelina last week, and while the food and atmosphere were great as always, our server XOCHITL was flat-out TERRIBLE. She acted like she hated being there. Every interaction was cold, forced, and indifferent.
At a restaurant of this caliber, that kind of attitude is unacceptable. I understand the 20% mandatory gratuity and great servers deserve it, but service this bad just takes advantage of it.
One server like Xochitl can drag down the entire experience at what should be one of LA's best spots.

Mandatory 20% tip on pick up left a bad taste in my mouth. Food is decent but the prices don’t reflect it. Especially the pizza, for $30 pizzeria sei is cheaper and 10x better

Delicious as always and some interesting new dishes in the menu. Always excellent, always innovating.
It is good but it is way overpriced for what it is. You try it once cause you try them all then you move on. Many better places to eat PIzza in LA but out of respect for Gjelina I won't list them like I usually do when the Pizza is bad because Gjelina is good it's just not that good and way over priced. When you expand your PIzza horizons you'll understand. Until then, guess you'll think this is great. There's honestly no Pizza that is great on Abbot Kinney at all. At least they're not an abomination like Abbots. They're so bad its offense. Gjelina is cool though, like a 6.5 One Bite scale. Bolognaise was pretty damn good but same thing, overpriced.

Honestly, food was mediocre. Bahn mi barely had any seasoning that it tasted bland. Pizza was too thin, it felt closer to a crepe… too thin and soggy to be lifted at all. But taste wise, it wise fine. I wasn’t fan of the MANDATORY 20% tipping. If service was great, I’d be more than happy to leave 20-22% tip. But being subjected to paying great service tip for doing the minimal “taking order and simple serving”is unpleasant. I, as a customer, would rather have the choice in tipping of how well the server performs than being forced to pay higher end tip without a choice.

Our waitress Xochitl was absolutely TERRIBLE. You ever meet someone that just hates their job and you can tell doesn't want to be there? Yeah, that's pretty much her. It's like someone was forcing her to talk to customers! Just absolutely a bad experience, otherwise Gjelina has always been a great restaurant with great atmosphere and good food.
Why are women dining together always provided the worst seating? Love this place, but yet again needed to request better seating than what was offered! Do better for your customers who are actually locals!
“We'll only remove the cheese if you'll literally die” – Gjelina server. That was the response I got after politely requesting cheese be removed from a dish due to a lactose intolerance. The server went on to explain that ANY changes to their dishes disrupt the kitchen and the way their employees like to work (why is that my problem?). She continued with saying that if my intolerance was truly severe, I could just remove the cheese myself. Needless to say, we asked for the check. To our surprise, a 20% gratuity had been automatically added, despite it being just 2 of us. Goes to show the clientele they cater to. Nowhere on the printed menu, nor at any point in interactions with staff, was either policy mentioned. They only earn an additional star because the appetizer was somewhat enjoyable.
My mom and I came in for a quick lunch today and despite being rushed by our own schedule, the service could not have been more lovely and hospitable. Rather than rushed, we felt the service was elegant and timely with grate recommendations from the menu. We look forward to coming back for dinner next week. The cod and blt were perfect preparations! Thank you!
