We visited this restaurant because it was one of the Chase Sapphire perks. It was well worth the drive from North of LA. We had a lovely waitress named Alley who recommended several of the menu items we ordered, like the Gruyere, Caramelized Onion & Fromage Blanc pizza and the Grilled Kabocha Squash with Mint Pistou, pomegranate and red walnuts. Oh my gosh, those were so good. My husband's favorite was the broccolini with plenty of confit garlic and a slight chili taste. And I'd say the Japanese sweet potato and Brussel sprouts were totally unique and great tasting too. The restaurant was crowded for a Saturday brunch, so make a reservation (we still waited a bit). We sat upstairs which was quiet and would have been perfect on a typical LA warm day, but the inside was bustling, so take your pick. The price is a bit high, but we were full on the vegies and pizza, and Alley was so great, checking on us and making sure the food came out timely and we were enjoying everything. A lovely experience.

This is a place for the vibe. The food was mediocre. We ordered a macchiato and they brought espresso. Still fine but I’ve had better.

We also got the pomodoro pizza and added burrata (came out hot and was cold in less than 5 minutes) soggy but fine - had better pizza elsewhere.

We got the omelette. Great flavor but very greasy.

We got the labneh toast. I wouldn’t get it again- very sweet.

The food next door at the gjelina small bakery place was much better. Like MUCH better.

We also came with two kids. One day with us another we had a high chair and a stroller. The patio area is so tight and very hard to maneuver a stroller in a small space. Don’t bring a stroller if u can!

The atmosphere is great with good music, and beautiful surroundings. The dessert is AMAZING. I highly recommend the butterscotch caramel pudding. And the green cacio e pepe is incredible.

The pizzas are great. We had the lamb sausage pizza and the arugula salad. That was perfect for two people. I highly recommend this place. Nice moody atmosphere, too.

Always a solid choice as long as you don't mind the seemingly ever existing crowds and potentially problematic parking situation (there are public lots close to the restaurant - they may be full though.) Reasonable prices and solid offerings from pizza to omelettes.

The exterior and interior design is pretty cool as a combo of modern and eclectic with warm, tactile and cozy finishes and furniture. The food is outstanding. My son and I started by sharing the steak tartare on sour
Dough. Superb! My son had the hangar steak banh mi sandwich and I had the baked Moroccan eggs dish and washed it down with a couple refreshing iPA’s from Long Beach Brewing. Our waitress and her team were great too! As a bonus I got to sit adjacent to famous architect Thom Mayne. I think this place should pursue and be considered for a
Michelin Star! Going to hit their NY outfit when we get back east! It was that good!

Gjelina is the best restaurant in LA, hands down. Everytime we make the trip over from orange county, we MUST come here. The food is brilliant: pizzas, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, salads, and chicken. The desserts are so yum as well! You can't miss going here! We even have their cookbook to try to replicate the loved dishes at home. You have to come!!

The place has a cozy, rustic vibe that immediately sets the mood. The food was delicious, especially the pizza.

There was a small mix-up with our order—we were served the wrong pizza and only realized after we had already started eating it. The staff handled it incredibly well: they comped that pizza and still brought out the one we originally ordered, both free of charge, which we really appreciated.

One thing to note is that they don’t allow ingredient modifications. My boyfriend asked to remove chives from a pizza and they weren’t able to do so, so we chose a different option instead. Also, the pizzas don’t come with cheese by default, so adding burrata was an extra $6.

Overall, great service and tasty food—just good to know their menu is more fixed and add-ons can increase the price.

Wonderful luncheon at Gjelina. They were so graceful and kind. I had family visiting and we were early for our reservation and stayed way too long, but everyone was so great about it. The service was excellent and the food is absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.

Loved the outdoor seating on a late summer night. Great food variations for vegetarians.

Some of best pizza I ever ate - top ingredients, max flavor, great technique. Wood oven prep. Good service!

You will pay 30% more but you won’t forget the experience.

gjelina delivers on food quality and overall experience, but i'm docking it one star for a very specific reason: you absolutely cannot modify anything on the menu. not even a simple request like adding a side of basil to a pasta. for a restaurant of this caliber, that level of rigidity was surprising and a bit disappointing. just know going in that the menu is strictly “as is,” and manage expectations accordingly.

that said, the food itself was good, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. the service was friendly and attentive overall, though they did forget to bring our drink order, which took away slightly from the experience.

One of my favorite restaurants in LA. The menu is always rotating to highlight what’s in season. We’ve tried many dishes in our visits and the vegetable dishes are always some of the best.
