Made a reservation on Resy for Saturday night. Received the requisite confirmation texts. Drove to the restaurant to find it closed. Called the next day and left a message, no call back. Tells you a lot about what they think of their customers.

I absolutely love Hama, and it’s made my top 5 list of recommendations for a few reasons.
A) The rolls are unique, and always fresh. You’re not going to have a bad bite here. B) lots of ambiance and dining options. Dining solo, come. Date night, come. Large group, come. Hama has space and they use all of it very well. Just don’t be surprised if on a nice day you’re packed table to table on the side walk. Share a bottle of sake and have a few beers, this is the kind of place you can settle in and enjoy your time. C) Esther, the owner, is the star. Personally greeting each guest, while keeping a watchful eye on the whole ship. She’s the heart beat. She is the conductor of good times, delicious Japanese bites, and a sanctuary so sacred you might even catch the rich and famous enjoying their time.
Highly recommend to anyone, for any occasion. This is a great LA restaurant!

Had my 29th birthday here. Great experience. Met a few party animals and ate way too much food off the happy hour menu. This is a surprisingly chill bar, with big televisions and a community atmosphere. Highly recommend getting the house sake. They serve it out of a bamboo thing that is just awesome.

A nice enough restaurant tho nothing hugely special. The staff were attentive & nice. The food was tasty & fresh but horribly overpriced for the little you received. $25 for the Supreme Sushi Sampler … which was four (!) pieces of sushi! Including a tip for two beers & a modest amount of food I paid $97.20! Left hungry & went next door to the amazing ice cream parlour to fill up instead!

Server came to our table after a few minutes and asked if we wanted to order anything. Our table had a child so we said please give us some time. She never came back and another server came 10 mins later, i’m assuming because her shift ended. We ended up waiting 20 mins just for waters. The food was abysmal to say the least. The sushi is overpriced and the fish is so thin I can see through it. I ordered chicken teriyaki and it was not worth $28. Also who puts soy sauce in their salads??? I’m asian and I have NEVER thought to do that once. Overall extremely disappointed considering how great the reviews were for this place.

Great local spot. Never disappoints...staff is amazing, and food comes quickly. I usually sit on the sushi bar side as it is quieter than the patio and bar.
I found it by chance while passing by. I feel bad after spending a lot of money. This is my first time leaving a review in my life. Even though there were several seats available, I was directed to a seat in front of the bathroom. That's it for now. And then udon came out, but it was so salty that I thought I couldn't drink the soup. Just as I was considering eating it, a server passed by and asked if the food tasted good, so I said, “It’s salty.” And then they brought me food, so I thought they were going to give it to me again and waited, but there was no news... .. And since the amount of food was small, I ordered additional food. I waited until my group's food was all eaten, but the food didn't come out, so I asked and was told that my udon meal was automatically canceled?? I thought the additional food was a replacement for udon? Why is this so novel? Why do you cancel food without even saying a word about whether you want to cancel or order this instead? My server is busy explaining things, It was crazy, the udon was salty, and it was the end of a trip to LA, but it was a very unpleasant meal… Not mentioned here I hope you learn respect ^^
