The Market is one of those charming little cafes in Venice that has excellent coffee and some of the best pastries I’ve had in LA. Their almond croissant is buttery and flaky, and the flat white is perfectly balanced. The interior is small but cozy, with an earthy, minimalist vibe. The food was very good but the service was ok. I asked for a bag for my food to go and the waiter Brian G G said they were out of bags and the manager gave us a bag. We were the only ethnic people in the restaurant when it came time to pay we wanted to pay with cash and was told they didn’t except cash just card. I felt like we were discriminated against. Food was quite good. The service was excellent, our waitress had impeccable timing and a very understated approach, but always made sure we were doing well. The squash flowers were excellent. The mussels sauce was superb although the bread underneath made it initially look like more mussels. However, that toasted bread with the sauce was a crunchy savory treat.
