Really disappointing experience. Our server (a woman with long blonde braids—unfortunately didn’t catch her name) double-charged us, ringing up $202 instead of $101. She told us she had already added the tip herself and didn’t offer an itemized receipt. When we asked to see it, she instead brought us a credit for the duplicate amount—clearly trying to cover it up. When we confronted her, her reaction made it even more obvious something was off. Felt really sketchy and uncomfortable. Just a heads up to double-check your bill if you eat here.

That burger looks good, right? Sadly, my burger was overcooked and the egg on it was undercooked. It wasn’t great. The fries, however, were top notch - imagine McDonalds with rosemary. Atmosphere is literally “right on the beach.” 20% mandatory tip for counter service… meh. I typically tip that anyway. Whatever.

Venice Ale House is a great little spot right on the boardwalk of Venice Beach. Perfect for grabbing a cold one while people-watching or taking in the beach views. They’ve got a solid selection of craft beers, with plenty of local options to choose from.
The vibe is laid-back and fits the Venice Beach scene perfectly. It’s not a huge place, so seating can be limited during busy times, but the atmosphere and location more than make up for it. Great pit stop if you're exploring the area!

To automatically have 20% gratuity added and then have the screen prompt you to tip more is wild. 20% assumed is crazy. The fries were 2/5. Fish tacos 3.5/5. I’ve been here before and I swear it used to be a vibe. Maybe I just caught it on an off day.

Friendly people and good food which we had to order at the bar. This was no problemen. There was a DJ playing nice music. This was a bit loud and hindered a normal conversation on the outside terras.

The regulars don’t support the 20% mandatory tip. This is ridiculous. I tip all the time. It should be that The tips for the day should be split to all workers. We should be able to decide to tip or not. I’m not coming here any more and I’ve warned my friends and family.

The burrito was absolutely terrible, it lacked flavor. The “lime Rice” was disgusting. The second part is that the restaurant illegally adds a 20% tip when you order at the bar. There is NOT an option to change it.
