I did hear it closed here and it makes me a bit sad because so many memories, but not of dining here, but a lot of Ventura night life happened here. I ended up as a DJ being picked up by one of the promoter's that threw events here. After DJing or supporting quite a few events here, I really grew to love Golden China. My review is 3 stars and not higher because the food wasn't good in my opinion. I only ate here twice - and both times was because I forgot to eat prior to arrival but wow way too sweet, a bit soggy and extremely difficult to digest later unsure why. Too often bar service was way too slow. That said, I am glad they opened up their large, beautiful space for events. There was plenty of dancing room, a small patio out back, and excellent DJs have played here (this is in reference to the club side not the karaoke side). They also had excellent security as I had a major security issue once, a guy came here with friends to harass me, and they were immediately thrown out as soon as it was apparent what was happening. The doorman kept apologizing to me later (as the ring leader entered with a mask on) and I just said, hey it was handled and I was safe and that was all that mattered. I was impressed by how quickly everyone involved mobilized to remove them from the venue and made it clear they were not to return. I was DJing that night, and performed 10 minutes after they were removed so it was so appreciated how quickly the situation was handled without too much disruption to the event. That one wild moment aside, I have many amazing memories here and hope someone will buy this lovely space and it will once again become an epic spot for bring Ventura night life together.

My nephew took me here. We were the only guests. Establishment is quite China" in decoration. Food was middle of the road. We were both pretty disappointed.

Just, very skeezy. Honestly I've been here twice and my drink was spiked both times- be careful.. happened to my friend too at a separate time. I was okay and my frIend drove me home safe after I told them. Would never go here again.

Golden China is my old time favorite go to for Chinese food in Ventura. Gary and his family have always treated me with the best service for 30yrs . I always take my family there for all events birthdays funerals and graduations. Just for a late night snack. The golden China will be missed dearly! I am so broken hearted. We will miss you.
