Exactly what you want from your friendly neighborhood Chinese restaurant! An extensive menu, big portions, delicious food. Quaint and hole-in-the-wall feel inside. The staff were lovely and efficient, couldn't ask for more!

If you eat Chinese food in the San Gabriel Valley, most other mom and pop places pale by comparison. This is such a place. The world wonton soup was good, but average, and my shrimp in lobster sauce was also just average. It did smell good with garlic notes, but the shrimp were tiny, lower grade regular shrimp. Price is $10.99, not bad. Service was good, but the waitress, who was nice, didn't bring any silverware after serving the soup. Nothing extraordinary here, but a reasonable price, place to try.

Small place to eat but food is very tasty because they actually cook it here. Cook to order. Friendly owners and are always happy to see you.

Very bland I ordered the tangerine chicken- better tasting then the rest of my food but still no taste of tangerine/orange chicken was not tender. Beef and broccoli and the bbq pork chow main needed to be drenched in soy sauce which I prefer to opt out of soy sauce. Soups broth had no profile wonton and egg ribbon soup. Food came hot and everything came as ordered I wish the food was a lot more tasty. Quality ingredients are missing.

I am so happy to have discovered this Ventura gem! The food is always made to order, and Served up hot, fresh and delicious!! The service is always excellent and the price is good for the generous portions of food!! Black Pepper Steak in soft noodles! ! With a side of BBQ Pork and crunchies! Friendly and efficient!! My new FAVORITE!

Haven't been here or ordered take out for a few years after being a loyal customer on a regular basis. I ordered food for three of us which was a total of $68.00. The food was missing flavor and ingredients that you request for instance pork fried rice should have bits of pork and some green onion, egg this looked like steamed rice with soy sauce. The requested menu items that were suppose to have shrimp maybe had a shrimp. Worst Chinese food I have had in along time. No flavor other than soy sauce. I think it must be under new ownership because when we use to frequent this place the owner was a young outstanding chef. Sorry I rate them an F and will not return.

This place was absolutely amazing I can tell it’s family owned the workers are very hard working I only honestly support family owned places and this place honestly deserves so much more attention almost all the places on Main Street not all are extremely over priced and you get mid food and it’s like 25 dollars for something extremely not worth it this place I can certainly tell you it’s worth every penny it’s quality food and let me tell you from the very moment I came in the service here was fantastic people in Ventura should only support family owned businesses these people actually care for what they serve and who they serve definitely will be back extremely impressed

Low key mad at myself for not trying this sooner. I have been in the Ventura/Oxnard area now for nearly 3 years and have been so sad to not have a decent Chinese spot around. Or so I thought until yesterday. I am so happy I found this place! Came in on a Monday afternoon around 5:30pm and got seated down right away. Our server was so kind and on it! She took our orders right away and within 5-7 minutes the cream cheese wontons were out. These little things were perfectly cooked and so good, the part that was the cherry on top was their sweet and sour sauce. It was sooooo good. Would have to rate this dish a 8 out of 10. Our dinner was our shortly and we tried the honey walnut shrimp and the vegetable pan fried soft noodle. The shrimp was good but I would rate a 7 out of 10. The shrimp was cooked well and had so much good flavor but it was the cold pineapple in the dish that kind of threw it off. For next time, I personally will order it without pineapple as the hot to cold contrast in the bite was just really off. However, the pan fried soft noodle was soooo good! Easily would give this dish a 9 out of 10. It didn't even need soy sauce or additional sauce as it was truly packed with so much good flavor. If your looking for a good Chinese place, please consider this place! I've seen this place on Yelp before and passed it over and defenitly regret it now. Please be sure to check them out, you won't regret it.

Good friendly service. Good food. Good value. We got the all inclusive "Special dinner" meal with the Shrimp in lobster sauce and the tangerine chicken. Both large quantities (amazing amunt of shrimp) and good tasting.

Always tasty food, and friendly service and generous portions. It's a hidden gem on the west side of town.

Second time wrong item or missing item sent. Egg rolls cold and greasy, some wierd fried things sent instead of the chicken dish ordered. I will NEVER order from Gourmet Oriental again, The food is almost inedible.
