Himalaya is a hidden gem in Ventura. I have been going there for a few years and I have never been disappointed. Their food is delicious--flavorful and well spiced and their portions are generous. The chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan are fantastic as you would expect but there are hidden gems throughout the menu--try the Newari Choila or the Lamb Saagwala-- or if you want something a little spicier, any of the Vindaloo dishes will satisfy your spice craving. A good choice for lunch is the Silver Burrito, which has delicious chicken tikka cubes with lettuce and cucumber, mixed with mint, tamarind and yogurt sauces. Besides the excellent food, what sets Himalaya apart from most restaurants, is their hospitality. Sonny and the rest of the crew do an outstanding job attending to your needs--coming by often to refill water glasses and clearing away dishes. You definitely won't feel forgotten there. If you're not sure what you might like--just ask--they are extremely helpful in suggesting dishes based on your likes and dislikes and your level of comfort with the food. After you've been back a couple times (and you will return!) they will undoubtedly recognize you and may suggest additional dishes you may like (I've found so many new favorites this way). Indeed, the staff is so helpful, It starts to feel like you are eating at a friend's home instead of at a restaurant. If you haven't already been, try Himalaya! You will love it and will love having a new place to take family and friends to share their wonderful food and gracious hospitality.

If you want to try a local spot with great food and excellent service, look no further. Before visiting Himalaya, Indian food did not rank high in my favorites list. Once I had the butter chicken and garlic nan I was hooked. Stop by and check them out. You won't be disappointed!

Best Samosas in town! This is a special place with excellent food and service. 10/10 recommend to all, and especially vegans and vegetarians.

My family has been going to Himalaya for over 6 years--we first found them in Thousand Oaks and became regulars there--when that restaurant closed we made a point to Venture out to Ventura almost every weekend to enjoy our favorite Nepalese Restaurant. We love the food, Sunny and the rest of the staff who are always so personable and caring--they remember our regular order and often suggest wonderful new things. We were recently there for my birthday and it was a beautiful, warm Spring day. It was lovely sitting in the cozy patio next to the fountain--so relaxing and I felt so celebrated. Thank you Himalaya!! See you soon!

Delightful & delicious hospitality...& the flavors! If TLDR--go eat there--you'll see why!* Amazing birthday lunch, with friends at Himalaya! The physical location is kinda strip mall, but once you approach, you see the bright cerulean blue accents, plentiful shade (if outside) & decorated w/traditional art & decor (some for sale). The family has really secluded their guests from outside noice & interference as much as possible. While we sat inside (2 burn easily). As you walk thru to your table, the heavenly scent of their food makes you want to linger & ask what others are eating. Food is phenomenal, & plentiful. They have some of their own twists as well, but we stuck to the classics--& they're excellent at them. Our lovely server, Suni-6 stars (hope I spelt correctly), told us some of the items they were known for having the best of (& they were) such as their Samosas, Momos, roti, any Masalas & of course butter chicken. Our group started w/the Vegetarian Paykoras -5stars (killer flavor & texture, both sauces & chickpea batter homemade--you automatically get both sauces) & Garlic Naan bread (no cilantro onreq). But first the Himalaya Family welcomed us with cups of their 'Aloo Tama Bodi' (a traditional festive soup)--Great way to start a meal, especially as we all debated on decisions & caught up. Suni was super patient w/pace & hit the perfect balance between non-intrusively looking after our drinks while always being easily available for a question & chatting about a mutually known great human. Entrees--everything would be listed higher than 5stars (if allowed). Various spice levels available & checked by servers. Will also accommodate you w/in possible reason *Chicken Korma - Med spice--Charlene loved & can't wait to come back (her 1st visit.) (vegetarian, can't rate it) *Lamb Tika Masala - Mild --bombastically good! Navy, photographer was to busy eating to take a photo (vegetarian, can't rate it) *Ayurvedic Khichadi - Mild (no cilantro). I've been eyeing & excited to this item since I saw it pop up (but life). Exceeded expectations!!Hands down a repeat order item. Completely nourishing comfort food with good flavor + easy to digest *Extra Note - The dish-ware is traditional & beautiful, from size, design, material & weight. Then we got another treat, I normally do my best to hide my b-day, but my friends shared, & that's when we landed some of their homemade Kulfi Pistachio ice cream!! Another item I've wanted to try, but always to full. I'm gonna go a star over again & rate 6 stars. --it's homemade ice cream, I've always been fascinated by the square cut (it took a looong time to melt). Tasted awesome...& Suni delivers it with '& there is no cilantro'. Such a perfect reading of our table. & for 2 final really special things. They have a sign, & they flipped the letters to wish me a very happy birthday! As we were leaving, Suni, knowing we planned on walking very kindly asked we'd care for Masala Chai Tea's Togo on the house's hospitality. I wish we had photos of the food, to show you, but we all dug while it was hot.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 10 out of 5 stars We've been here a few times and this place never disappoints. The staff is amazing, attentive and so friendly. Food is delicious and fresh. We celebrated our son's birthday and they went out of their way to make it special. They even had a special birthday message on their board for him. We will definitely be back.

This gem we found at our vacation during spring break. My whole family loves momo - that's what we were looking for, but we found more. A warm hospitality from every staff member, excellent food quality and eager to accommodate even when items are not on the regular menu. Momo is very good quality as expected. Possibly the best gobi Manchurian I had in decades - asked them to make it real crispy and dry and they exactly did that. A few unusual items like Gurung bread and Khichdi we tried and they were top of the game. We came back two successive nights for dinner here. We were craving for a Bengali style omelet with the khichdi and they accommodated that even though it is not on their menu. Ambient is perfect for a Nepali dine out experience. I wish this restaurant all the best and may they grow their business a lot.

Such great service and ambience! The food was so warm and delicious with great hints of flavor and spice. The mango lassi and ice cream were also divine!

Prices are absurd for a few pieces of cubed chicken in butter sauce. The atmosphere is also not as warm and pleasant as it was under the previous owner. I won't be going back.

Best Indian restaurant food I've had in SoCal, including LA! Loved lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, bindhi. Only clunker was the naan-- not well baked.
