Just fantabulous!! A local gem in my neighborhood that we locals all cherish! Toshi san and crew invoke that lovely Japanese spirit that's essential in serving Japanese cuisine.

Absolute gem of a place. Best sushi I’ve had in the states and as good as anything I’ve had in Japan.

Tiny speck of a neighborhood haunt with 4 or 5 tables and a scant 6 stools at a sushi bar. Service is friendly, timely and professional. Fish is as fresh as the Ocean and whatever came into Ventura or Santa Barbara in today's catch. Omakase for $60 pp and an amazing specials board with fresh eel, uni, sea bream, wahoo, scallops, amaebi, blue fin toro, and many others. Sake menu -- and Japanese beers -- complete the traditional experience.

Just a heads up for anyone (like me) who doesn't call ahead to verify they are open. I went by earlier this evening and was disappointed to see a sign indicating that they will be closed until May 21st.

Toshi is an old friend. I was there the day he opened up. He offers a unique Old-school true Japanese sushi experience. Even though I don't live in Ventura anymore I still stop by. But as usual, he is swamped with customers.

Not sure how to rate this place? Went there on a Saturday night @ 6:30 and they were closed

Best sushi in Ventura without question

Great sushi and amazing service. Come early to get a seat, the whole place is 3 four top tables and 6 seats at the sushi bar. By 5:10 there was a waiting list of at least 4 parties. Super fresh and well prepared traditional sushi rolls

One of best sushi restaurants in town.
Amazing nigiri. Large cuts of fish and good ratio of rice. Flavorful without too many complex flavors.

Definitely recommended

This place has incredible food, service, atmosphere, and people. Make sure to arrive early (as close to 5pm as possible) as they sell out fast. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, and sitting at the bar is so fun!

I was excited to try this sushi restaurant and stopped in to place a to go order. The woman working abruptly just told me "no take out"! I was a lil shocked since I didn't see anywhere online, on their front door or anywhere that they don't do take out. We unfortunately couldn't dine in since couldn't leave stuff in the back of our truck.Maybe will try to dine in but they have very limited hours and small place. We went down the road to Banzai instead.

I immediately fell in love with Koba Sushi and the owners the second I walked in. My husband and I try to come weekly. There’s really nothing else like it around here, it’s very special and the sushi is authentic and amazing.
