Just okay. Rolls weren't particularly flavorful or impressive. They were on the smaller size for portion sizes. The crispy rice spicy tuna was okay. The rice was flat like a pancake and had what looked like nori mixed into it which made it extra chewey.

Very similar to sushi from whole foods but for double the price. Actually sushi from whole foods is better...

Based on other reviews who have had a negative experience, the common factor is the service. I came to eat here and the service was the most unprofessional I have ever experienced. We came to eat last Friday and initially we were being served by a friendly waitress who asked if we needed more time or had any questions. We ordered their fried poppers with her and for our main order another waitress came to take that order. She appeared very rushed and we did not understand why initially. She then said that we would not be able to place any more orders as it was last call. We had no issue with and at this point there were about 40 min left until their said closing time (9:30pm). Our food came out one by one and when the last plate was set down, the waitress brought out our check and insisted we pay now as they were closing registers at that moment. We thought okay sure but not 30 seconds later she came back and said she needed a payment now so my husband placed his card. Keep in mind the restaurant was closing their registers at least 30 min before their stated closing time. I had never been to a restaurant where they start closing registers before the restaurant even closes unless they are accustomed to closing this way before so once the last customer leaves so do they. This means doing all the cleaning as customers are there and not staying afterwards. Which it seemed this way because they were also taking out overfilled trash cans through the restaurant while customers were still eating their food. I saw them take out overfilled trash cans 4 times coming and going which to me is unprofessional and a health hazard. They even left one of the trash cans next to customer's tables when it was brought from their kitchen and not initially there. After this the same woman came to collect everyone's receipts and we planned to leave cash as a tip. So we wrote cash as we were still trying to eat because every time we would reach for a bite it was interrupted due to payment being demanded. The lady stood there and saw we wrote cash so she demanded we give her the cash at that moment. I thought it was highly unprofessional and I then decided to say we were not going to leave a tip because her service was rushing us every minute. We gave our initial waitress a cash tip as we thought she was friendly and liked her service. The other woman then said I will come back for my tip so you think about it. She also said if we were not going to tip then we should not go out to eat and stay home. She also stated that in California it is required to leave a tip. No where in the receipt did it mention that and we also did not have a large party where tip is already included due to a large party. I did not say anything because it seemed that no matter what I was going to say or do she was going to have the contrary opinion. We have never decided against leaving tips until this day. I also say this due to having family in the restaurant business I understand what professional and respectful service is. Overall from reading other reviews others have had this experience of rude service.

I ordered a SHRIMP TEMPURA roll and it was 90% crab meat (which was really fishy).

Just to let y’all know, some make you tip, and won’t let you leave until you leave one. It’s not ever worth it, food is plain and so are the workers. Tips are a way of an extra thank you to the workers who go above and beyond.

Food was okay4/10, the service was okay, the only issue I had there is when they force you to leave a tip for them. Tipping comes out of appreciation from us customers to those workers who go above and beyond. the waitress didn't go above and beyond so it wasn't tip worthy. But to not let me leave until the they see a tip. Is absolutely ridiculous.

Ordered teriyaki chicken. The served me raw chicken. None of it was ever cooked through. Servers didn’t even want to come back to our table after the initial bringing out the food. Was a hell of a fight to get my disgusting raw jello chicken off the

Excellent Monday through Thursday lunch specials. If you're having dinner and like unadulterated slices of fish, try their Chirashi Bowl.

Masa Sushi Ventura should be boycotted for racism and non-compassion. It leaves a bad taste in ones mouth.Just how long do you think your business would last if all our Mexican friends in Oxnard and Ventura stopped eating there.

RACIST!!! AUTHORITARIAN!!! My husband and I have been residents in Ventura for 30+ years. We loved Masa Sushi, we were regular customers and we enjoyed bringing our big party of friends for Sushi and Sake. We would brag about this place and were proud to bring our friends here. But on this night of Dec 26,2023, my husband and I were taking a walk in downtown. My husband’s knee gave out in front the Masa front door. He was in pain, so we sat down at a table for two right outside of the Masa window . Immediately, a large, young Asian woman came up to us, asking us to leave if we were not ordering anything. After explaining to her that we are regular customers, and that my husband’s knee went out with pain, I said further that we only needed a couple of minutes. She immediately called on a city security guy who happened to be nearby, to get us off the table. The security man was more compassionate than the woman, seeing that my husband was in pain. He told us to take our time.I went inside the restaurant and ask for a manager and the same heavy-set Asian woman confronted me and said she was the manager. Then she proceeded to say to me, “ where did you get your education .. If you don’t understand that the chairs are for paying customers only, you should go back to Mexico “. Shame! Shame!Shame! On Masa. I am a proud Ventura resident. I love my town for its inclusiveness and diversity. I didn’t believe that racism is still lurking in this beautiful town . If anyone reading this review feels appalled by this overt racism, take a stand and spread the word.
