Palermo is a long standing fixture in downtown Ventura, and I've been visiting it for nearly 15 years. Creative artsy coffee beverages up front, a limited range of pastries and cakes in the middle, yielding to an extensive Gelato collection shining in a cooler like tasty jewels...and then an incense scented gift shop in back, offering everything from gift books to candles to seasonal figurines. It's just a joy to visit. I recommend the steamers.
To the thin white guy with glasses working behind the counter at the gelato station, please don’t rush. Just because there is a long line doesn’t mean you have to scoop very messy and subpar scoops. I ordered two flavors and you barely gave me one of them. Now I don’t want to get gelato here anymore because you didn’t take the time to scoop gelato correctly and give the same amount for two flavors. Also, if someone is military and they request a discount just give them...
A must stop when in Ventura. The gelato is the best in the US. The coffee is delicious and they have inventive drinks. The gifts are high quality, thoughtful, fun, and not your run of the mill. Would stop at Palermo every day if I could.
