The best part of this place is the view, atmosphere, and bartender. The food? Meh.

Went here on a Thursday evening. The place wasn't too packed. Ample parking across the street on the empty parking lot or on the street. Located inside the Darling. No reservations. We sat at the bar for their Dueling Bartenders night. Every Thursday, the 2 bartenders concoct their own cocktail based on the style of liquor. We went during bourbon night. We also decided to eat here too. I ordered their Seafood Pasta and 3 cocktails. Bartenders were very attentive and the food arrived quick. The seafood Pasta was very delicious and they were generous with the portion of seafood too.Overall, a great place to have dinner and drinks. I always like to use the stairs to get to the restaurant to get an exercise in and to appreciate the Art Deco architecture (the majority of the decorative items are original and restored). The bartenders know to make their cocktails, so just coming here for cocktails alone make it worth it. They also have $10 tequila nights on Tuesdays. Highly recommend coming here.

Teleurstelling.

Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is not conducive to children, but The Darling I believe allows them to stay.

My first experience was amazing with amazing food and portions were so big that I felt the need return but this time with friends for a birthday ? ! Biggest mistake to go during the week! The menu was not appetizing. The Service ? birthday girl asked for something NOT on her plate and did nothing to accommodate but I sure did see other plates that weren’t in the menu go out to the patio!! The only things that was the best part of my dinner was the pork belly! I recommend that not the place!

The bone marrow barely had anything inside. It was enough for one full slice of bread maybe. Other than that it was tasty but not worth the money. The cranberry phyllo had some strong cheese in it that i was not expecting. The beef burgundy had 4-5 pieces of beef and a lot of mashed potatoes. It was pretty good. We didn’t get to sit outside so can’t say much about that.UPDATE:My sister ordered the chicken dish and gave some to her son to eat, they both got food poisoning that lasted about a full day.

I paid for the most expensive chilaquiles in my life. And they had no eggs nor meat since my husband is vegetarian. The atmosphere is cute. The service was okay, just a little slow .

We have dined here perhaps a half-dozen times and have not been disappointed. I reserved on Monday specifically because the website indicated this this is the night that the chef offers some new items--a bit of culinary adventure. Our server informed us (upon my inquiry) that this was not the case on this particular evening--not enough reservations. Was I supposed to have indicated this when I reserved? Does the chef review the number of booking on Monday afternoon to decide whether or not to be adventurous? I may never know... This was our first time eating in the bar area (rather than outdoors). Pleasant, not too frenetic, not too noisy. The service was very good--attentive, no fawning. The salmon atop a potato-spinach cake was excellent--a generous serving of very fresh fish, and the "cake" was refreshingly light. The winter salad was excellent--a very nice mix of fine ingredients. As always, the spicy shrimp were too good to resist. The only specific disappointment was what was called Caesar salad--a bland mix of bagged lettuce pieces with a nearly flavorless, creamy dressing. This is what one might get as a Caesar in a local diner, or at the home of someone who does not cook at all or does not like a real Caesar salad. Please don't soil the name of the Caesar salad with such a sad offering. But at least the lettuce was fresh and crisp. Despite the salad, we will gladly return, because it's a nice spot with excellent food.

Drove from Fresno to try this place after seeing it highlighted on ABC30 Dine and Dish. disappointed with dessert but did get it complimentary for my birthday. The carrot cake tasted like it had been baked days prior and refrigerated....then taken out from the fridge to my table for me to enjoy- it was hard and not enjoyable. They did redeem themselves with the quality of the filet and the eggplant lasagna was delicious. I will try one more time to see what the brunch is all about. Overall not a place that is affordable to eat regularly but great environment to dine for special occasions.

The food is alright. But it is not worth the expensive price.I got a plate with potatoes bacon green onions and eggs. Everything was good except for like, half the potatoes. They were oddly sweet. And very very expensive.

The warm bread and butter is the best. The asian shrimp is fantastic. I love the strawberry salad with feta and chicken (YUMMY) the turkey thing was okay a little dry and flavorless, the sauce really brightened the dish (still left no crumbs). The service is always hit or miss.

The views are great, and so is the food,so if you're in the neighborhood make a reservation, it's well worth the stop!!!
