After the vandalism I wanted to support the business and I finally had a chance to visit. The portions were a good size and the staff was very friendly. The experience was good. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t great. Reasonably priced and edible but bland. Maybe it was an off night because I see many other good reviews. I hope they continue to improve as time goes on but I won’t be back.

This is the place!! Everything we ordered for take out was Top Quality. Best breakfast burritos hands down! The rolled tacos were amazing as well. Great value and portion size all made with very fresh ingredients. The salsa bar is fantastic! Will be back for sure!!

The menu is very good and the food well-prepared. A cafeteria style place with six indoor tables seating 4 each plus a few more on their front patio. A bit of an echo chamber, not too loud though. Very reasonably priced.

I am so happy there is a Mexico Viejo up in vista. I’ve been going to the Encinitas and now Cardiff location forever. I can’t wait to try out the Vista one!

This was our first visit to Mexico Viejo. We were impressed with the quality of the food. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. The pollo asado was delicious, served with rice, beans and 2 homemade tortillas. There is a small salsa bar with 3 or 4 salsas and pickled carrots and jalapenos. Friendly service with lots of smiles. Order at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Will definitely go back. Side note, unfortunately jerks vandalized the restaurant recently and the owners were still trying to replace the large front windows. Another reason to visit and support a locally owned business.

Read the news story online about the unfortunate vandalism this place was hit with after recently opening, so stopped in today to try the food and offer support. Food was outstanding! Huge portions and flavors were amazing. We had the carnitas burrito and chili relleno plate…both were super tasty and loved the fresh made salsas. Will definitely be going back….so good! ?
