They forgot to include ornaments on my son’s cake. I’ve had a discussion with the lady and left them the picture with and they confirmed that they will do it. When I picked up the cake and asked where are the little figures, they seemed to didn’t care and weren’t able to give me explanation. Moreover, they made me to sign a form that I will not have complaints against them at the time of the pick up. The cake itself was very dry and had no taste. Very disappointed!

I drove all the way, dealing with traffic, and tried calling ahead to confirm if they were still open. Online, it said they were open today and would only be closed on Thanksgiving, so I decided to make the trip. When I arrived at the shop, the door was closed. A staff member walked out and asked if I was picking up a bakery order. I said no and mentioned that it showed they were open until 5 PM—it was only 3 PM! They told me they were closed.

I’m really disappointed. They should’ve updated the information online to let people know.

The cake I asked for was not made correctly, both visually and how the cake was made. It seems this is bad confirmation from the girl who took my order. When I mentioned it, Jennifer the manager started yelling at me "I'm not in reality" over and again, until I cried and then she hung up on me. I will never go here again. I am so offended. If you have a special event I would not go here, whether it's the bad service, bad communication or berating you might endure from their management staff

Got a caprese sandwich, with no basil. Took it back and said there was basil, they said ok let me put basil on it. Went to the kitchen and they didn’t have basil. They didn’t tell me upfront that there was no basil and tried to serve me a caprese sandwich with no basil, know that there was no basil

Just a little example of their work. Everything is delicious and the staff is extremely friendly. Probably the best sandwich shop in Walnut Creek (I didn't photograph my Sammy, I ate it way too fast)

Not many items when we went there. We been there around 4ish. And they closer at 5 it seems. Seems to be expensive. Not so worthy the price

It’s a nice neighborhood bakery, however the cakes are too dense and sweet for our taste and the cookies, while delicious, a tad just too buttery. The multigrain bread was really great and super fresh. Yet to try the sandwiches!

Lack of transparency and common decency make A Sweet Affair irrelevant to me and my wife in a shopping center full of new food choices:

1. The poor quality and small portion of food is a gamble depending on the day.
2. They charge a 4% surcharge on credit cards but don’t disclose this or provide receipts. Undisclosed price increases not listed anywhere.
3. There is no air conditioning, creating poor environment for sweating staff. This is why food is spoiled. Probably why the employees were short tempered and irritable today as well.
4. They closed the restroom to the public permanently (saying it never existed) and sent us wandering to other businesses to unload after having our stomachs wrecked by what I presume is unhygienic preparation.
5. They do not clean the tables. Crud all over the outdoor tabletops.
6. The chicken salad sandwich is unchewable, full of tough unidentifiable pieces as if they grind it up with beaks and claws.
7. The bacon in the blt was downright raw. Someone must have agreed because there was a piece under the table on the ground at our feet.
8. I have been in plenty of times over the years to witness the slow decline and they never address me or know my name.
9. No menus or online presence with updated prices, no salt and pepper shakers on tables to season bland food, no silverware, napkins or even plates due to obvious cutbacks.
10. Online ordering is buggy. Overworked employee angrily yelling out people’s names for their orders at an unrefined volume. Every 6 seconds opening the door and rudely yelling in our ear.

It’s the uncomfortable equivalent to dining on a BART train. Folks, if you cannot afford to do business in a modern world, don’t do business.

Sweet affair has always overcharged but I used to enjoy what they’ve offered. Not anymore. I’ve been a regular customer for over a decade. The quality however has deeply declined as well as their service. Quality control is an issue.

I will always go out of my way to visit this bakery. The sandwiches are top tier. The thick in house made bread won me over from the beginning. Just the right amount of meat to veggies. I have yet to try all the flavors of cookies but so far white chocolate macadamia is the best. The variety of cakes and pastries makes it hard to choose just one.
