My favorite market for Europeans food and delicious ice cream! The owner is very friendly!
We were in the Walnut Creek and were craving piroshkis. We knew about Babushka Market & Deli and so we went there and ordered 6 piroshkis. The lady named Lyubov behind the counter is one of the nicest person we have ever met. She was very helpful and explained how they have something like 16 or 17 different kinds/varieties of piroshkis. We ordered 3 beef and 3 beef with jalapeno and they warmed them up for us on the spot. These are baked piroshkis, not deep friend, so they were not oily like the other kind. They were filled with a huge portion of meat with perfect seasoning with a huge beef flavor. They are literally the perfect sandwich and for a very reasonable price. We were very impressed by the quality of them and even one is enough to fully satisfy your hunger. As we were sitting at the table inside eating them, gentleman at the table next to us starting talking to us about the piroshkis. It turned out he was the owner of the Market and his name was Leo and he started it 29 years ago and runs it with his family. He told us that they buy their meat fresh and grind it on site and use all fresh and good ingredients, which explains why the piroshkis are so fantastic. We talked with Leo for a long time about the olden days, living in other countries, and our common experiences and ancestries…it was a wonderful conversation which was a perfect complement to the best piroshkis in the Bay Area in our opinion. If you haven’t tried this place we urge you to stop buy and buy one, which I think for sure after you eat it, you’ll want to buy a few more to take home. 5 Stars to this place…the best!
Friendly staff and delicious baked goods! Very few Russian stores in the Bay Area and this is probably my favorite I've tried.
Love their spices, but it’s the Piroshki’s I’m here for!!!! These things were amazing, if we lived closer, we buy them weekly. They travel well, and they definitely stay fresh for a few days!!! I like the owners very much. I thought they were very helpful.
A great selection with courteous employees. The Napoleon was delicious!
Amazing family business with fresh and amazing food.
This shop has the most delicious, freshly made piroshkis! They’re always hot, soft, and full of flavor—just like homemade. The dough is light and perfectly baked, and the fillings are so tasty and satisfying. Every bite is a treat! Definitely worth trying, especially when they’re fresh out of the oven!
This store and restaurant has the most kind, polite, caring owner with a big heart! If it would be possible, I would give 1000000 stars review to this place. It always feels like you are visiting your parent when you meet the owner. Such a special place that truly feels like HOME.
I appreciate all the hard work you guys did in the past 20+ years since I moved to the USA
Kind, nice and very tasty!
The food is truly remarkable, offering a delightful experience for the palate. The owner and staff consistently demonstrate exceptional kindness and warmth towards every guest. The pirozshkis and the soup are particularly noteworthy and delicious. These dishes represent a true culinary highlight. The overall experience is made even better by the friendly atmosphere.

Nice little Slavic grocery store. Clean, warm service
It's not as large as some stores in SF and Peninsula, but still has staples and many most beloved specialties.
What a great deli and store. I stopped in here randomly on a rainy day with a coworker. We each had a delicious bowl of soup and a piroshki and that was more than enough food for lunch. The borscht was very good. The people working at the store were very friendly and attentive. There are two small tables to sit and eat at. We didn't browse the market very much but I saw lots of interesting cookies, honey, meats, and other unique items. I'd highly recommend this place for lunch or some to go treats.
Good course for Easter European foods. Good homemade cakes and salads.
Pretty expensive food from bakery/cafe.
But they sell very good bread
They are selling Croatian goodies in there!!! Burek, vegeta, argeta tuna spread, cevapi, napolitanke, lepinje. People who work there are super nice and open to suggestions. Also, their freshly baked bread is so good.
