Our go to neighborhood coffee shop whenever we want to get a nice latte or matcha. They also serve liquor in the evenings and their back patio is perfect to grab a spritz or beer and catch up with friends!

La Scala has been a staple destination for me for about a decade, in large part because it’s so versatile. It’s an amazing spot to grab lunch and study or work, but also an awesome place to have a coffee chat with a friend. You can stop by in the evening to grab dessert, or later at night with a couple of friends for beers. The service is always fast and with a smile. Highly recommended!

Food was delicious as were the desserts. The young woman at the counter, Aisha, is a breath of fresh air!!! She practiced her Spanish with my wife who practiced her English with Aisha! A great experience at a go to cafe!!

Love this place. Good food and vibes. Had several vegetarian options too. Self service and seating. Nice cosy interior that's artfully decorated. Street parking is metered

Stopped here for a late evening dessert and cup of tea. The turmeric tea didn't disappoint - it was flavor and spicy🍵

Caffe La Scala successfully captures the cafe culture feel of a family run establishment in Central Europe. There is a vibe and energy at La Scala missing from most larger, corporate style coffee businesses. Having been in business for 30+ years hasn't diminished the friendliness of the staff, the cool world music or the homemade flavor of the menu cake and pastry offerings at the Cafe. Not to mention the coffee and beverage options. The clientele composed of students, regulars and elders love coming to La Scala to study, work and converse. Considering myself a tough critique of Cafes, I'm quite happy to have discovered La Scala recently.

The food was good and the coffee was good but the value sure was not!
I paid $15 for a little 4 inch slice of quiche! 😲
Thankfully they put a little bit of salad on the plate to make me feel better! 🤦🤦

Lovely little Café with the friendliest service. There are beautiful places inside, covered near a fountain, or outside to watch passers by.

A fine establishment in the heart of Walnut Creek! The food and service is impeccable and the prices are very affordable. The washrooms are located in the main lobby and the men’s was clean. Look forward to next visit.

I don’t leave reviews because most places just do what they say they do: you pay them money, they give you a service. But I’ve been going to La Scala for a lot of years whenever I’m in town, and it’s one of the last late night-ish cafes that survived the pandemic closures. I treasured it because I like coffee shop vibes at night, not bar vibes.

So this negative review really hurts to leave. I went there last night, and for reference I walk with a cane and have to wear a mask. They had a designated table for people with disabilities, and so I sat there. After an hour I was asked if I would move so they could take the disability sign off the table and seat more able bodied people there. They told me I could move to another table, but the only seats remaining were crammed in areas I could not access with my disability.

So I sat outside in the 40-some degree weather instead, because I can’t drive with my health issues and my ride wasn’t going to come back for me for three more hours. When I went to get another drink they were nice enough to comp it for me but it was only a $4 tea so I can’t say that did anything for me. I get the sense also that was the waiter feeling bad for me, rather than the manager or whomever told him to get me to move feeling bad for me.

You can’t ask a disabled person to give up their seat at the only disability accessible table. Of course you can say the words “could you move you’re in the way” but we all know that human culture hinges on politeness. If we start saying “I don’t want there to be politeness or thoughtfulness in human culture” then everything unravels very fast. Perhaps what they did was legal, perhaps not, I don’t know and I can’t say I really care either. My money and my presence are now an inconvenience to my favorite cafe in the Bay Area. That’s the part I care about, and I’ve received the message loud and clear.

I haven't been in years. Was disappointed at the chai which didn't have any flavor. Dessert was good (light pistachio cake & biscoti).
