The fish tank is very noisy, louder than a truck. Salt and pepper fish is good. Fried noodle with shrimp is so so, expensive for the quality and quantity.

I never knew this place is now East Ocean and if it was related to the famous Dim Sum place but the food was definitely in that higher level. Pea shoots were fresh and tender, both sweet and sour and mushu pork were authentic. Mushu pork even had wood ear mushrooms, which many places had abandoned due to cost and time. The waitress was kind and patient. She even gave us a small complimentary order of xiao long baos. My two grown sons were very happy with the dinner. Will definitely visit again.

Average dim sum and quite pricey. The decor doesn’t look like the pictures here.
Lunch with friends. Excellent Cantonese food. Dim Sum delicious. Best in East Bay. We all had good time catching up. Easy free parking.

Beef Tenderloin tough and salty. Average quality considering the prices.

We went on Mother's Day. They ran out of our two favorite Chinese foods, both desserts. That was disappointing.

Crooks. They lie and cheat customers. Don't trust them. I ordered beef stew short ribs via their website for takeout. They instead gave me left over liver and stomach/tripe. I don't eat that. I called them twice within the week to complain that they didn't give me what I ordered. Both times they said they would credit me but never did. They said they no longer offer that item and just replaced it without telling me, and then removed it from the menu. I claimed a dispute with my credit card company, but lost that dispute because I have no documentation that they agreed to credit me. Even though I have documentation of a picture of the junk food they gave me. Driving back 45 minute to the restaurant was not worth the time for $25. Don't trust these dishonorable thieves.

Good food, friendly staff
Always enjoy a trip to East Ocean, the food is so fresh and well prepared. Generous portions and attentive friendly service. Especially recommend seafood options: Salt and Pepper calamari and seafood chow mein are what always bring us back, plus the dim sum, which you can get at dinner; love the shrimp and chive dumplings! Vegetarian options are plentiful and the broccoli is just gorgeous on its own. I recommend dining in as most of the dishes are best enjoyed hot from the kitchen. Parking is plentiful and free. Four star on atmosphere as the music was a touch loud last visit.. small thing.
Very good dim sum
Thanks to the authentic selections chosen by my wonderful wife, I can confidently give this place a solid four stars. While the food was fantastic, a few design improvements could elevate the overall experience even further.
I highly recommend trying the Beef Dry Chow Fun ($19.95)—a flavorful mix of tender beef and perfectly cooked noodles. Be sure to pair it with their authentic hot sauce, conveniently available at every table, for an extra kick. For a well-balanced meal, add the Special Pea Sprouts ($21.95) as a fresh and delicious veggie side. And don’t miss the Salt & Pepper Calamari ($10.95)—crispy on the outside, yet juicy and tender on the inside, making it a standout appetizer.
To complete the experience, enjoy the complimentary tea, which adds a warm and comforting touch to an already excellent, healthy dinner.
Whether you’re a fan of authentic flavors or just looking for a satisfying meal, this spot is definitely worth a visit. I’ll certainly be coming back—and maybe I’ll see you there next time!
More western friendly version of the East Ocean in Alameda. For those intimidated by the ordering process, menu comes with helpful photos and English and Chinese names. You just enter the number of plates for what you want. All the wait staff speak English. Advantage is the dishes come out hot and fresh. Disadvantage is the menu is limited. For example, cheong fun is a staple at many dim sum restaurants but it not available menu here. And it is a request chopsticks type of place. But what they do have tastes good and portions are large. My MIL from Hong Kong likes the food. And you avoid the drive to their Alameda for those further East.
The restaurant is also quieter and more peaceful with no dim sum carts clattering around.
