I was looking for sushi, I decided to go here and I was fascinated, excellent service and they have a variety and very fresh. I recommend that you make a reservation. The tables are tight, I think it would not be comfortable for large groups. Obviously I will return ??
* I'm putting up photos of the dishes I tried.
** I forgot to take a photo of the grilled octopus but it is delicious.

Best sushi in Walnut Creek without a doubt. Even top five in the Bay for its price point.

We ordered Unagi, Sake, Butterfish, Wagyu, Chu-toro nigiri, rainbow roll, dragon roll, shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and gyoza. The fish did taste fresh and do well in that category. I'd be disappointed if it didn't as they advertise the fish is imported from Japan. Service was good and attentive even though it was a single waiter during lunch. I don't think you'll be let down by the restaurant and quality, however it didn't have the "wow" factor for me to earn 5 stars. In terms of value, this is where I felt it was lacking as the size of the nigiri and rolls were on the smaller side. While I'd prefer quality over size, I've eaten at similar priced and tiered sushi restaurants with equal freshness and bigger pieces. I'd recommend this place to friends for higher quality fish in Walnut Creek, but I wouldn't come running back here.

Outstanding nigiri and starters. Excellent service
The only letdown is a slightly boxy feel to the space. But highly recommended.

Excellent quality. Ordered the Chirashi Bowl, each piece melted in my mouth. Great tea.

I was a frequent at their SF location and I was really excited to have a location closer to me. Same menu as the SF location. Excellent sushi, one of the best in the Bay! Definitely try the kara-age, pork belly and hand rolls. Friendly and fast service.

We came to the walnut creek location as the SF location was closed on Sunday... And boy, was it a good idea! Abel was our chef and we did Omakase (chefs choice) for Papa Gerry's 90th birthday and we had food I would never ever choose off a menu but every.single.item was incredible! I am blown away at how deliciously curated each piece was. We didn't need or want to dip in soy sauce because he made sure each piece was flavored to perfection! I can't say enough about it! I'll post pics of each plate that was delivered. And I will be back! I am thoroughly full and I absolutely recommend ordering the Omakase and trusting chef Abel to take you on a sushi adventure of flavor and texture! Even the bone marrow was so rich and creamy!!! Oh, and we had braised pork belly with sweet potato and Australian Wagyu! What? With sushi?? Right?!? The contrast was impeccable! This is a meal I will never forget! Thank you chef Abel (and thank you chef Julio for teaching Abel and sending him to Walnut Creek, it's much closer to my house) we will absolutely be back!

Fantastic sushi. Service not great. It was a busy Sat night and they had one server for the ENTIRE restaurant. Atmosphere is pretty loud. Bad acoustics. Hard to hear the people at your own table.
Great mixologist at the bar. Fun drink menu too.
I would go back for the delicious sushi.

The best sushi in the area. The sushi chef on station when my wife and I dined here both times, Abel, really sold us on this place due to his skills in creating delicious pieces of sushi for our omakase course as well as his friendliness that made the company enjoyable the whole time. We love our sushi--we frequent Japan for sushi often, sometimes even at places with michelin stars and despite this, Hakashi sushi rates in the top 3 for us thanks to chef Abel's work, as well as the fantastic omakase menu that made every bite a self-contained delight. The flavors of the omakase course was out of this world, so kudos as well to the person who designed it. Keep it up!

I absolutely love sushi and a thoughtful omakase. To me the experience for either is more than just the food.
The bar seating was awkwardly low to the bar so changed us to a table.
The FOH staff was well composed, the BOH a bit unhinged. Maybe drinking a little too much, for too long. Not great dance / club music was maybe nice for the kitchen staff but a bit much for the diners. They offered of free drink a few times, not just to us but others at the bar.
The vibe was off for a place offering a pricey omakase and refined-ish Japanese food. The sound acoustics are really bad / painful and the decor is… incongruent with what one may expect. The food took a really long time to arrive and initially came in a to go box and didn’t quite look like the whole order. Then it came and was nicely prepared and had good flavor / texture / etc and we couldn’t wait to leave.
I’d love to go back for the food, but maybe just for take out next time.

Some nigiris were delicious, but they were very expensive. Also, we observed that service was not well organized because of the favoritism and no waitresses at all.
Parking: All parking streets are full all time.

Not sure about all these good reviews. The sushi fish was decent however they need to work on their sushi rice. The rice had a weird texture and difficult to pickup w chopsticks. On top of that the service is slow and the overall menu is very expensive.
