Overall - pretty good My friend and I decided to try isshin on a Sunday. I thought it may be packed but it was completely empty when we came around 5. The overall decor is nice. Some cute/interesting art. They do have a happy hour, we didn't try the drinks but we did get the takoyaki. We also split two rolls. Everything was pretty good. Nothing that stands out but still good. My only issue was that service was kinda slow considering we were basically the only ones in there.

Great Japanese restaurant with reasonable prices! We stopped by on our way home from Tahoe. The service was decent -- our waiter was not super friendly, but in a more reserved/awkward rather than rude way, and not super fast, but not slow. The miso soup took a longer time than expected to arrive, as we were the only ones in the restaurant for about 10 minutes, but the actual meal came out shortly after that, so we were happy. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and salmon teriyaki and were both very happy. The plating is very pretty (see photo!). The salad was also a nice surprise; it had mixed greens, not just iceberg lettuce, which was nice. Finally, my chicken teriyaki itself was fantastic -- nice portion size, perfectly charred, minimal fat, and delicious sauce. If we are ever in the Walnut Creek area again, we are likely to return. :)

I was really disappoint with provided service in that place. My wife asked about order place to pick up, it takes me 20 minutes waiting as overtime of promised time. The waiter didnt have time to serve 2 orders and 4 tables, he wasn't professional. The sushi was nice and delicious.

Best sushi restaurant in Walnut Creek! I love this place. The food is always delicious and the service is fast. Their miso ramen is soooo good my boyfriend and I always come here. We have tried other sushi restaurants and nothing is better than this place!
The food is incredible here and it's my new favorite place. The chefs are immensely skilled. They put care and passion into their dishes. On top of the incredible sushi selection and fresh fish you will get an amazing experience from beginning to end. If you are looking for sushi it is worth the drive to come here. Make sure to try the chefs special drunken uni if you're up for that kind of thing. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Great food and very kind hosts! We were late and arrived during the restaurant closing time. Yet, we were welcomed. The chef and the hosts/staff were kind and promptly served us the food we ordered. The food was delicious - the appetizers, sushi and the ramen. They were all great. Highly recommend Isshin!

Chef Anka makes artworks with sushi. When coming here, it may take a few visits, but sit at the bar, talk with Anka, he may even buy you a shot. Then ask him to just feed you whatever he can come up with. The magic will unfold. The flavor combinations that he can create made with fresh sauces and other ingredients. I have was scriptural about visiting this place after all the sushi places I have been in my life but I have been searching for a place just like this, where I can have a drink with my sushi chef, talk and eat unbelievable food. I'm new to the apartment complex and this was my first time getting takeout from Isshin. I'm so sad it was so quiet because the sushi was great! I went simple since it was the first try but the fish tasted fresh and the basic-b crunch roll was great!

Yummy food and great service! Very kind to my 2 year old and she would also give it 5 stars! They made her sushi with soy paper that was much easier for her to chew than seaweed and gave her training chopsticks. She ate 3 orders plus part of a bento box
