We celebrated New Year's Eve at La Sen Bistro in Walnut Creek, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The atmosphere was perfect for a celebratory night, providing a refined yet welcoming backdrop for what turned out to be one of our favorite meals of the year. We started with the duck pâté and escargots, both of which were prepared with authentic French finesse. For our mains, the duck confit was crisp and flavorful, and the braised lamb shank was exceptionally tender, falling right off the bone. The highlight of the evening was pairing these rich flavors with a memorable Château Margaux, which the staff handled with great care. We finished the night on a high note with a decadent pot of chocolate and a warm berry pie with ice cream. If you are looking for a sophisticated dining experience in Walnut Creek with impeccable service and high-quality cuisine, La Sen is the place to be. We will definitely be back!

While the food was very good, the service was perfunctory. But, where the restaurant really missed the mark was that I made sure to note in the reservation that it was a milestone birthday for my wife on 12/31. Not one person on staff mentioned anything about her birthday. But they did wish us a happy new year a couple of times. I just thought a restaurant of this caliber would have a staff meeting prior to service where the staff is apprised of special occasions listed in the reservation system that's not New Year's Eve-related.

I made a reservation last week Saturday, but despite that, I had to wait outside for about 30 minutes before being seated. The service was poor — they didn’t refill our water, and we could see the kitchen area, which had an unpleasant smell and looked dirty and disorganized. Eating food prepared in such an environment feels risky for health. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Not a posh place, but attractive. Very good French cuisine including the French Onion Soup. Special of the evening was Lamb shank which was like good short ribs falling off the bone.

Had a great dinner as usual! The food was exceptional and we could actually have a quiet discussion. A new twist is that there was now a non-alcoholic white wine (Sea Monster) available. It was not on the wine list, but pointed out to us by the waitress. Few restaurants in WC offer a decent non-alcoholic wine, so this was a nice surprise.
