So pretty and gleaming inside. Had the lavender coffee (will ask for less buds next time) and the chocolate croissant - which I thought was absolutely delicious!

The opera cake had a layer of chocolate that was too firm, which overpowered the delicate texture and prevented me from fully enjoying the harmony of flavors in each layer. The matcha tea lacked richness and depth, tasting thin and watery.

While they are undeniably beautiful and visually appealing, the taste isn’t remarkable enough to earn a full five stars at this price point. It feels overpriced, but with a fairer price, it could easily deserve 4 stars.
Update for my second visit: very poor customer service. And coffee wasn’t good!

Wow! This place was beyond wonderful! I was looking for a good bakery to make a cake for my birthday party. My husband and I sampled cakes from three 4.1 star and above bakeries. Marvel won by a landslide. Their Opera pastry was amazingly delicious. I can’t wait to go back with friends and family as the setting is as lovely as the desserts are delectable.

I ordered two cakes for a very special event and was deeply disappointed. Both were very expensive yet of inferior quality. The chocolate cake was extremely dry and difficult to cut, while the vanilla cake completely fell apart—I had to serve it in crumbles rather than slices.
This was meant to be a centerpiece for the occasion, but instead it caused embarrassment and drew criticism from my guests. For the price paid, the quality was unacceptable, you pay for the look. I cannot recommend this bakery for important events. If you're looking for a delightful dessert for your reception, go somewhere else.

One of the best bakery/tea lounge in the bay area. We love the delicious cake and the selection of teas. It is pricy, but worth every penny. Those who don't want think so simply do not understand quality.

Best place in city.amazing deserts.great coffee.thematic vibe
The food at Marvel Cake was okay overall — I'd give it 3 stars. The Opera cake was the highlight, really well done. But the rest, like the feta & spinach pastry and chocolate croissant, were just mediocre with no standout flavor.
What really brought the experience down was the service - 1 star at best. The barista messed up my drink and didn’t acknowledge it or say a word. She seemed annoyed to even be there. The staff clearly lacked proper training and it felt like no one was managing the place.
However, the Palo Alto location is the opposite — friendly, professional, and much more welcoming. This spot needs serious improvement.
It was quite pretty, service was good and was a pleasant experience. I did not think it had a great selection of pastries and the almond croissant was on the small side. Coffee was great. Soo many bakeries in WC now.....
