Had excellent meal with our choice of entrees, sea bass for myself and rib eye for my husband. Also the kale/mango salad was great.
I dang a star for service because we were urged to order everything at once (because we were going to a show after) and assured the food would come out in order and not rushed. But our salads came out first. Then our appetizers, with dinner very shortly after. But food was great
In reservation our party asked for a quiet area for hearing impaired individuals. On a very busy Saturday night Massimo placed us in a side room all by ourselves so we could her each other. Fantastic experience and so glad that Massimo read and responded to our reservtion request.
The chef did not prepare the dishes as listed on the menu. We should have sent everything back, but this was the first time we had been there for brunch, we were celebrating a birthday & didn't want to make an embarrassing fuss. 2 of us had pancetta omelettes -- they were FIILLED WITH ONIONS NOT LISTED ON THE MENU. We both would have specified NO ONIONS, but instead picked them out. Also, almost no pancetta, no tomatoes, only a few chopped mushrooms. My husband ordered the classic eggs benedict but the chef used the calabrian chile hollandaise not the classic one listed on the menu. Chef needs to check our the menu to prepare the food as listed. Good grief! Server was fine. Food was not.
Haven't been to this place in about a year or so, since new ownership. Luckily, they have kept the same ambiance, with a few lovely upgrades. But still the old-school, classic Italian white table-cloth restaurant, that I crave! Good to see David, always nice to see familiar faces. My friend had the sea bass (started w the clam chowder). His sea bass was cooked to perfection and he devoured every drop of the soup. I enjoyed their gorgeous fresh green salad w vinegrette dressing, perfectly dressed and the most delectable colorful, thinly sliced radishes and carrot. Very elegant. Then for main course, a creamy risotto chicken Marcela. The red wine reduction sauce should be patented. Chocolate martini and bread pudding for desert. Sat in the large booth overlooking the bar and restaurant. It was a perfect eve w the service being impeccable.
I have been to Masimo many times. Primarily before the new ownership occurred. It always had a high level of food service elegance. After the new ownership, I was disappointed twice. But we decided to give it another try and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. The service was exceptional. It wasn't horribly noisy and they were kind to serve us slowly so that we weren't too early for the theater. Yes, for sure we will go there again. It was a very good experience.
Went there for Sunday brunch. We had 11 people in our party. Excellent food, service and overall experience. We will return.
Massimo changed hands 1+ years ago now and has evolved to great new heights. The food is brilliant with unexpected delights, like the deviled egg appetizer. Amazing. We sat outside on a lovely early autumn evening and were pampered by our waitress who knew the exquisite wines like the back of her hand. The food was delectable in every way. It is a beautiful restaurant with swank and intimacy and glorious cuisine. Do yourselves favors and book reservations. I can't wait to return!
Chilean Sea Bass & Lobster Rissoto were delicious. Sea bass in lemon beurre blanc sauce was a good size portion & cooked perfectly. Lobster risotto was rich & hearty. Beautiful presentation, as well. Great atmosphere, ambiance, & service. Well-balanced cocktails. Really enjoy eating here. They also accommodated for gluten-free requirements.
We've lived in the Walnut Creek area for many years, and Massimo's never disappoints. The service and food is beyond compare of anything within a 50 mile radius. With a large party, and 3 birthdays, all of our needs were met, except for the type of table requested, but they still attempted to help us with that, but we wanted to get on with our party. The prices on the bottles of alcohol were a little excessive, but beyond that, no complaints whatsoever. The evening went very well, everyone loved the food and service, and the piano player was an unexpected delight!

Phenomenal dinner. This was our first time here, we were celebrating our 5th anniversary last night. The food and the ambiance were amazing. Mellow, romantic. All of the above for a wonderful night out. We will be back to visit again!
The food and service was excellent! We had the grill octopus and the special of the day was the Paella and it was delicious. We highly recommend Massimo Ristorante.

While the food was tasty, our waiter had too many tables to serve and I had to go outside to ask for our bill. My chicken marsala didn't come with a vegetable, which I found surprising as it cost $32.
I hadn't been to Massimo's in over 15 years. After a fantastic meal to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, I don't know why we took this long. Place was clean, food was amazing and the service was top notch. I'm moving Massimo's to the top of my Italian spots.
