Wonderful as always! Our favorites are the veal saltimboca and lasagna, also for dessert have to get the zabbagione.
It was great to celebrate a birthday dinner with family. The food was amazing, as was the staff. This has become my favorite place to take people in the East Bay by far. Had a friend reach out from Japan and say all he can think about is the Chicken Parm!
The excellent reviews for this classic Italian restaurant drew us in, so now need to add one of my own! Expect a dimly-lit space, tables with tablecloths and candles, and walls covered with photos and framed art reminiscent of Italy. The restaurant isn't huge and tables are strategically placed to maximize the available seating. However, it's not a very open space and does get loud as it fills up, which happened very quickly at 5pm on a Saturday night. Service is excellent. We were greeted, seated, and served with warmth and efficiency. There's a lot going on in a busy restaurant like this and they handle it well. Complementary bread wasn't heated, but can't complain about anything complementary! Meanwhile, the dishes we ordered were all delectable. We shared Beef Carpaccio and Pancetta-Wrapped Prawns as appetizers, both of which I'd highly recommend. I love calamari steak and opted for the incredibly tender Seppia Dore, served with al dente rigatoni in a light, tasty tomato sauce and served alongside a medley of perfectly cooked and seasoned fresh vegetables. Yum! Other recommended dishes from my family were the Cioppino and the Chicken Piccata. Only the noise level stops me from giving Montecatini a 5-star review, along with the fact that I have (only once before) had a better calamari steak than they offered. But this is really a 4.5 and I look forward to returning!
We had a great time as we always do !!! Angel was amazing. He is the guy behind the Bar. He always makes us feel like family. The food is second to the conversations we have, but that is amazing too. I always have the Lasagna and Lisa had the scallops for the first time and they were perfect !!! Until next time đ
This was our first time here. Overall, it wasn't bad at all. The service was very good. We were checked on often. The location was perfect because we were on a date night to see a show that was across the street at the Lesher Theater.
Montecatini has been our go to dining experience for special events. They never disappoint!
I would go back again. Food service was excellent . Brought sample of wine decorated for our anniversary bought out desert. The only thing was the ambiance was a little loud.
I would give Service 10 stars! They made my son's birthday celebration extra special. The specials were great (salmon and a pasta with dried tomatoes) as were the eggplant and veal.
We had a great dinner with friends. I dreaded going once again paying a lot of food for mediocre food. I was pleasantly surprised with a wonderful dinner (steak) and a drink and appetizers and my wife and I paid about $120 with tip. Thanks we will be back.
Montecatini in Walnut Creek is one of those old-school Italian spots that never disappoints. The ambiance has a âGoodfellasâ vibeâclassic, cozy, and full of character, with a timeless feel that makes you feel like youâre stepping into a traditional Italian trattoria. The food here is outstanding, with rich flavors and great attention to detail.
Their specials are always worth trying, especially the swordfish and duckâboth are standouts that showcase the restaurantâs commitment to quality. The portions are generous, and every dish feels like a true labor of love. Whether youâre a regular or a first-timer, Montecatini is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic, delicious Italian food in a warm, inviting atmosphere.

The Food was amazing the service was outstanding our lovely waitress was on point everything from the time we were seated to the time we left was meticulously planned. We had heard about this place on social media and soon as we walked in and the host smile went down and stares from him and then other customers began. As an Italian food lover, I was truly sad to not be able to embark on this experience. Mind you we're black.our server was nice but old host guy needs to retire but my business will never come back to the establishment.
