The food & service were excellent. Will definitely go back. A friend recommended we go for dinner and we were not disappointed.

Very nice neighborhood restaurant near downtown Walnut Creek. Very convenient for pre-theater dining for the Lesher Center. Food quality is very good with excellent service with very attentive staff.

Always a good meal at Montescara, but the specials last night were extra terrific, very casual, very busy, and sometimes noisy, take out and outside make the kitchen a little low at times.

We're seated immediately. Good attention for service. Quality drinks, wine, food and service. Desserts not at that high level. Prices are a bit high but matching other top area restaurants

Very good service. We had reserved an outdoor table; hostess called us in advance to say that the wind was picking up and if we wish to, she could see us inside. We appreciated the consideration. Serve promptly, wine, list, recommendations were excellent, as was the Nebbiolo. Insalata mista and cauliflower salad both fresh and tasty. Puttenesca could use a bit more spice; branzino was terrific. Desserts excellent.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration for my mom! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding - Oscar is a great manager and his staff is attentive and friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening!

I went at 11:30am on a Wednesday. I ordered the pulpo twice and two glasses of a dry white wine recommended by my server, who is a delightful man with a charming accent. Though the restaurant was practically empty when I first walked in they had a relaxing vibe with a mostly pastel/white interior. I've had better pulpo, but not in walnut creek. If I wasn't able to go to oakland/San Francisco for octopus, I would come here.

We usually dine at Montesacro in SF, this time we were in Walnut Creek, made a reservation for 4 on the patio thinking end of July is going to be warm in WC. Unfortunately there was a strong wind all night and it was freezing cold.
Our waiter seemed to be rushing us as she was cold herself and wanted to get in.
The food got cold right away … the creamy cacio pepe I ordered, became a block of pasta. Then I ordered a bottle of cannonau, wine from Sardegna. Our waiter told us the bottle was not available and she offered a similar one .. she said: it cost $4 less, you are saving money ?!?
At the very end we ordered dessert, it was a birthday dinner, but the waiter said they were not going to use a candle because it was too windy … what about just a symbolic candle ?
I wish we did not stay but it was too late.
On a different note, the host that helped us with the table was very nice and offered to move the heat lamp close to our table.
I don’t think I will go back to this location.

Montesacro Pinseria - Walnut Creek serves authentic Roman-style pinsa with a perfectly crisp, airy crust and rich toppings. The cozy atmosphere and quality ingredients make it a standout for Italian food lovers.

We had an amazing experience here! thanks to our fantastic server, Michelle. She was incredibly welcoming, had a great sense of humor, and made us feel right at home. Her menu suggestions were spot-on, and we were really impressed that she remembered us from our last visit. Service like hers truly makes the meal special — we can’t wait to come back!

Drinks are great! The kale is really salty, saltiness is 11/10.
Carbonara is good!

Absolutely loved the food and atmosphere at Montesacro Pinseria! Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and incredibly juicy, and the appetizers—especially the roasted cauliflower and crispy bites—were delicious and unique. The bread with olive oil was fresh and fragrant, and paired so well with a glass of rosé.

Service was friendly and the vibe was cozy yet modern—perfect for a relaxing dinner. Definitely one of my new favorite spots in Walnut Creek. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food, great wine, and a great evening out!

When we arrived around 1 PM, the place was very busy inside and out. The staff approached us immediately and seated us right away where we wanted to sit. We sat outside. Clean, pleasant, and places in the sun and in the shade. I ordered a spritz which was delicious and refreshing. We shared the fettuccine with mushrooms, chili, and garlic. And the vegetarian pizza.
The pasta was perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh. The mushrooms were delicious, but we couldn’t taste much garlic or chili. The pizza crust was delicious.! Tender and chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The toppings were onion, red pepper, mushroom, basil, and olives. Unfortunately, it was watery and made the center of the pizza a little soft. But we ate it all because it was still delicious despite falling a little short of our expectation.
The server was very pleasant and helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here and would recommend it to others. The next time we come, I will order a different pizza.
I tried to capture some of the beautiful mural art on Locust.

I have had better experiences here in the past. The food was ok but not great. If I am to be honest, I was put off at the start. We had an 8:45 reservation and we were on time. The restaurant closes at 10. At least that is what they state on their website. Our server made it blatanly clear that she wanted to go home and that she was not pleased about our late reservation. Within five minutes of seating us, she wanted our order. When we stated that we hadn't looked yet, she quickly let us know that the kitchen closes at 10??? Well that is great, it is currently 8:55, why are you telling us about a kitchen that is closing in over an hour. She clearly didn't want our business. Its not like this is a burger joint. Our bill for 3 people was $200. Do not make me feel unwanted. I suggest you either choose to close at 9 or talk to your staff about making customers feel welcome regardless of what time it is. This was my third time in and first for my friends. I don't think any of us will be going back. My suggestion is to do better. We have plenty of restaurants to choose from. If you don't want us, then you won't get us.
