Braised ribs were burned and bitter. Stir fried rice noodles had lots of clumps that were all stuck together. Mapuo tofu is not authentic, none of the Sichuan spice or flavors.
Hate to be such a downer, but can’t really recommend the food here. It’s a shame because the owner clearly spent a lot of attention to give the place a decent ambiance.

We found a cooked maggot in our food, after both eating entire plates. I honestly thought it was a caterpillar at first and would’ve felt 10x better if it was just a baby caterpillar, but the server themself denied it being a caterpillar. After looking at pictures of maggots, I’m pretty positive that that’s what it is. We told the server when they asked if we wanted to-go boxes and the server was kind about it, saying that they come from the vegetables. I didn’t ask for any food comps on our bill because it wasn’t too big of a deal and there were other people eating around us so we didn’t want to make a scene. The food wasn’t bad but I’m definitely concerned about the conditions of the kitchen.

Excellent. I'm surprised I did know about this place before. It's literally next to the Las Lomas High School Across from Kaiser on Main Street. They have a private parking lot, street parking and an outdoor seating area that overlooks the creek.
The decor is wonderful. Service here was great too. Food, was great. I didn't know they did dim sum dishes. I took a few photos of what we got there. Great date night place too. I added this as one of the better dim sum places to go in my dim sum bookmarks.
I definitely planning on coming back, perhaps for dinner. Delicious dim sum.
I have been ordering take-out from here for the past year or more. Every time, I am amazed by how abrupt, uncommunicative and unfriendly the person at the front desk is. I’ll stop bothering to leave a tip. What goes around comes around.

I tried this place because my wife was in the hospital because she had just given birth, and there weren't too many options nearby. I first walked in to see if they had lunch specials, and just greeted by a water fountain that looked like it has been there for twenty years and had not been serviced in fifteen. The hostess I encountered kept trying to convince me to buy items à la carte because they had no lunch specials at the time, saying that they weren't very expensive. I walked around the neighborhood and came back and decided to go ahead and get their Mongolian beef and some steamed rice. It seems like they just have premade food sitting in the fridge somewhere and they just warm it up, because when I went to eat it, I got a couple of pieces of cold onion, which I thought might have been normal and okay, but there were also cold pieces of Mongolian beef and sauce, which, if you just cooked it, would not be possible. The portion was pretty small, it seemed like it was preheated, and it didn't taste very good. I will never go back here again.

The waiter filled out my tip on his own without notifying me in advance. The worst is that he denied his fault on filling out the tip for me. He claimed that they have a service charge for party over 7 ppl, but we only get 6ppl there, and they didn’t even mention it during reservation. I don’t feel respected at all and don’t want to visit the restaurant anymore.

one of my favorite chinese food spots in the area, the food is delicious and they have great portions. definitely worth the price, highly recommend going here if you’re craving a delicious authentic chinese meal
I had an outstanding dining experience at Peony Garden! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with elegant decor and attentive service. The menu offered a diverse selection of traditional and modern Chinese dishes, each beautifully presented and bursting with flavor.
The dim sum was a particular highlight—delicate and flavorful, with a perfect balance of textures. The beef and broccoli has to the most flavorful in all of Walnut Creek!
Service was impeccable; the staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to offer recommendations. The attention to detail and commitment to quality truly set this restaurant apart.

Our first time dining at Peony Garden and I give it 5 stars across the board! The food is superb, the service was excellent. The restaurant is very tranquil. We ate on the patio. It’s inviting with such a great atmosphere and ambiance. When you first walk in everyone greets you with a welcoming hello. We met Cindy, (I believe the owner or manager) she is so sweet and I believe the restaurants lucky charm. She stopped by all the tables to make sure everyone was having a good time and enjoying the meals. I am so happy to have found this wonderful Chinese restaurant and will definitely be back. Try it, you won’t be disappointed. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️??
