I have been going to this restaurant for years and I loved it but I don't plan on going back. My last two visits have been very disappointing and I've learned it's under new ownership. Thankfully the chef is still there which gives me some hope but the changes are evident in the food and service. Both times, what I ordered was not what I received and even though there were only three tables occupied on my most recent visit, the server was slow to respond, barely communicated with us, and showed little awareness of anyone's dissatisfaction with their dining experience. I heard the patrons next to me complaining about the service as well. As far as the food, the good hot bread from the pizza oven is not the same and the dipping sauce has far less olive oil and alot more vinegar than before. Sadly, this little gem of a restaurant is not what it was and if the new owner doesn't have someone step in, I am afraid Pomegranate will be on its way out.

This used to be my favorite restaurant and my first choice for all the special occasions (birthdays etc) but my last experience went horrible here! I didnt know the management/ownership was changed, but the food was nothing closed to how it used to be. Really miss the old Pomegranate! :(

STAY AWAY !!! NEW OWNERSHIP that is completely clueless!!! Food is terrible, and you have to take pills to provide that bad a service !!!! We've gone here for 17+ years, what a shame!!! Complete idiots running the place, do yourself a favor, stay home, these guys will be out of business in less than 3 months. Ciao !!!!

I've been coming here for 10 years never had an issue until today. But I'm under the impression that it's under new ownership. The food sucks, food quality went down drastically it's such a shame. We didn't even finish our food. It took 15 minutes for our table to get menus. 20 minutes to take down our order. What's even worse is that we were overcharged we had to ask them to fix the receipt. Two minutes later two other customers were also overcharged. And the manager was not apologetic about it, instead he snatched the receipt from the customers hand!! This place is dead to me now. Never coming back!

Awful service. Literally came here 7:20 pm on a Wednesday night. No one was here besides a couple next to us that had there meals already and a group of friends behind us that were eating as well. Didn't tell us our food is coming out shortly or anything like that. Im not over exaggerating it took 30 minutes to "make our food" it was cold.. and he honestly could've said enjoy your night or something along those lines vs him not saying anything to us besides would you like the check. Last time my girlfriend and I go here after spending a decent amount of money there.

This place deserves no stars at all. Last week on Sunday night I called in for two special mediterranean burgers. And I ask a few more times to please, please make these burgers special. You expect them to take there time and give you something outstanding but lol. The picture says it all. I had to throw away the food when I got home. I believe there Persian and suck on quality.

I am soooo happy to have stumbled upon this little gem over the weekend. My husband and I were walking our dog around downtown Walnut Creek trying to find a dog friendly restaurant with a patio on a Saturday afternoon. We finally stumbled upon a quaint restaurant with a nice size patio out front. We were instantly greeted with a smile by the server. The entire experience was great. The food was awesome (super fresh) and the owner even came out to greet us and bring our puppy his own little water bowl. So happy to have found this place, we will definitely be going back!!!

I was excited to order from Pomegranate for an event. It was much more than I hoped to spend but I was please with the service upon visiting the restaurant. I called to confirm the order and the amount to pay upon delivery. The restaurant added a $60 delivery charged that was NEVER told to me while I ordered and even when I called to confirm. I called repeatedly the following days to discuss this un-agreed upon charge but no one answered and the voice mail was full. I could have easily picked up the food from the restaurant and I'm very disappointed in the way this was handled. I was hoping for better service and I feel that I was taken advantage of.

Crazily overpriced our order was all wrong. The hummus was dry and just blah tasting. We got two pizzas to the table when we ordered one and that wasn't even on pizza dough. I honestly would have rather eaten at chipotle. I had to walk back and add money to our parking meter simply because the food took a good 30 mins to come out. No doubt we won't be going back. However the service was exceptional. We were greeted with a friendly smile and great hospitality however that wasn't the only reason we went to dine out ‍

Came here for bday party dinner with my friend & her family.Loved the bread and the dip they serve to start with.we ordered a combination platter of hummus, babaganoush, tabbouleh and dolmas...tasty and generous portion for starter.for the main course I enjoyed my mediterranean pizza .My friends enjoyed their pomegranate chicken and beef kabob.resonable prices for big portion of tasty food here in walnut creek downtown.the service is quick and friendy .We took home the leftovers we were so full that we couldnt go with their hommade deserts(baklava and tiramisu) but the owner (Navid)who is a nice and friendly gentleman , put some baklavas for us to take home ...We will diffenetely come back soon.

UPDATE- The owner, Navid has threatened legal action against me for posting this review. He has also used my credit card information to dox me. Used to be a great restaurant. Ordered a beef kebab and was given lamb instead. Manager persisted in lying that the meat was beef before admitting it's cooked in lamb fat. Interestingly, my server told me prior that the meat was a blend of beef and lamb. Was given very little bread to accompany my hummus and found out I was charged for the three additional measly pieces I received upon request. Navid, Pomegranate's manager, is way in over his head and has no business running a restaurant.

I used to come to Pomegranate all the time, I went recently and the food is horrible. I found out that there's a new owner who switched up the menu. I ordered a beef kabob and chicken kabob combo, but received lamb and chicken instead. When I told the manager he said it was all beef, another waiter said it's half beef and half lamb, and then I was told that it's beef marinated in lamb fat. The menu did not say anything about lamb being in this combo. The manager finally gave us beef kabob, but he went on about how much more expensive it is and how we should be thankful he made it for us. Overall I had a very bad experience and I will not be coming to Pomegranate again. It's sad to see a restaurant I used to love suffer from poor management and (now) terrible food. ** The owner, Navid, had the audacity to message me and call me stupid after posting this review. I would give this restaurant 0 stars if I could, very unprofessional.

I see there are mix of review for this place and I totally understand why but the good news is that they a new owner bought the restaurant I think in July 2018. I went there for the first time a few days ago and new owner (I think Navid) provided us with a great service. He was so humble, friendly, and dedicated to improve the food quality, experience, and the dining area. And it was so clear that he is been working so hard to provide a great experience for his customers and of course it takes time to rebuild a business and gain trust/satisfaction. I would definitely recommend it!
