Love these spots to hang and have a drink with both kids and adults. Lots of fun games and things here. The decor is fun and whimsical! The food is pretty expensive for what it is to be a regular spot for us but (popcorn with chocolate chips is $14) it’s worth a visit. ❤️

Came with my two girls to get a sweet treat and they are now charging $10 a head just to enter their place before ordering. It was empty inside when we arrived around 12:35. Lady said they went viral so they are going to charge to come in on weekends to come back during the week. Kids were upset but I wasn't going to pay $40 just to walk in. They should have posted this on the website. Bringing my kids to a different really cute viral treat place that isn't charging just to walk in. (And all good to those that want to pay and take pics, but I would not haven driven out here if I knew in advance.)

We had such a fun time at RubyLou's! Walking in honestly felt like stepping into a girly, pink, magical version of Disneyland. The decor is absolutely amazing -- every corner is picture-worthy and so thoughtfully designed. It's such a fun spot for photos and just soaking in the vibe.

The claw machines were a blast, and the ice cream was super fun too. It really feels like an experience, not just a place to eat.

We've heard they're working on expanding and improving their unique cocktail menu so stay tuned and perhaps stick to the wine and beer for the time being.

That said, it's such a unique and exciting spot that we'll definitely be back once it's been running a little more smoothly. Overall, such a cute and magical place to visit! Daisy the owner is an absolute gem!

We came to check this place out after seeing it on Instagram. We were drawn by the aesthetics and the energy that was presented. If you are looking for a place for kids and want some wine and ice cream then this place might be for you. Otherwise this place is disappointing.

The look of the place is fun and wild. There was definitely a vision for this place and it made it fun. Atmosphere wise.. it was a mess. We came around 8-8:30pm and there were kids and their parents running and screaming everywhere. There wasn’t much seating as families took up the tables. If that isn’t your vibe don’t come here. We tried their “boujee nachos” which were $27!! Nothing boujee about it. A complete ripoff. Cheap ingredients, small portions, and the meat was cold. The pretzel bites were no better.

The concept here feels confused and poorly executed. Trying to function as both a family/kids space and an adult social environment created a chaotic experience that didn't feel appropriate for either audience. The separation between activities was unclear, and the overall atmosphere felt loud, crowded, and disorganized.

From a customer perspective, the lack of structure stood out the most. There wasn't much guidance, and the experience felt unmanaged, which made it hard to fully enjoy what was supposed to be a fun outing. For a business that presents itself as community-focused, the execution felt careless rather than intentional.

Based on my experience, I wouldn't return or recommend.

Great atmosphere. It’s like if the Disney princesses met Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.

Ruby Lou’s is such an awesome place. I came with my daughter and 3 year old grandson. The decor is pure eye candy. The art work, walls, curtains, rugs, and furniture are a delightful explosion of colors.

We ordered pretzel bites and nachos with braised short ribs; an elevated nacho plate that was delicious. There are a lot of fun activities to partake, serving as a haven for children and adults during the day and a respite for adults at night.

If you want to indulge in a fun new experience where you can also get some extraordinary photos I highly recommend Ruby Lou’s,

Went to check this place out with my three year old and my mom today, and it was a great place for a multi-generational outing. My kid had a great time playing with toys and trying to win toys out of the claw machine, while my mom and I had some tasty snacks and a couple of beers while chasing my toddler around the different, visually stunning rooms. This place has a great, friendly community vibe. Everyone we encountered seemed to be having a great time and conversations seemed to flow freely between people who had just met. We had a very sweet encounter with a teenager who won a panda out of a claw machine and gave it to my toddler, after watching him try unsuccessfully to win it himself. It was a very appreciated act of kindness and seemed to encapsulate the overall feeling of the crowd in there during our visit.

After reading a couple of recent reviews, I felt like I had to share my experience, because it was completely different.
Ruby Lou’s is amazing. The vibe is colorful, upbeat, and genuinely fun without feeling out of control. It’s lively in the best way, and the whole concept feels creative and well thought out.
The owner was there and was incredibly welcoming, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. You can tell there’s real care behind what’s being built there.
We had a great time, the energy felt positive, and everything felt organized and intentional.
I’d encourage people to experience it for themselves instead of relying on a few opinions. We’ll absolutely be back.

I was curious about this place but it was a total let down! The atmosphere felt off, and the overall experience didn't come close to matching the expectations. It’s a bummer but this was a major swing and a miss.

Save your time and money—there are much better spots in downtown.

I was drawn in by the concept and decor. On the surface, Ruby Lou’s presents itself as a playful, colorful, family-friendly spot with games and an upbeat atmosphere. The space itself is heavily decorated and visually fun, which initially sets an expectation of a welcoming, kid-friendly environment.

That said, the vibe inside felt very different from what’s advertised.

While this appears to be positioned as a place for families and kids, the reality leaned much more toward heavy alcohol consumption and a bar-forward crowd, which felt uncomfortable given the games-and-family framing. The amount of hard alcohol being served and the overall tone of the space didn’t feel aligned with something I’d feel good bringing children into.

Additionally, while the decor is lively and inviting, the staff experience didn’t match that energy. Interactions felt distant and unfriendly, which was surprising given how playful the atmosphere is supposed to be. It made the experience feel disjointed - visually fun, but socially unwelcoming.

Overall, the concept feels confused: it’s not quite a family space, not quite a bar, and ends up missing the mark on both. Personally, I’ll be steering clear going forward, especially if you’re looking for a genuinely family-friendly environment.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! My husband, two littles and I went to Ruby Lou's for one of our stops on my daughter's 5th birthday! I first want to say that the owner, Meg has a true heart of GOLD! I met her for the first time in-person at our visit and it is so clear as to why Ruby Lou's gave me immediate good vibes right when I walked through the door. When we got there, she and her team treated us so well. I had been communicating with Meg prior to our arrival and she had balloons, a crown and a few little gift surprises ready for my birthday girl. We played a family game of Candyland and corn hole over ice cream sundae floats (beautiful and deliciously prepared by Keke) and Mama got to have a cold class of Chardonnay in a beautiful, safe environment while my kids were entertained and having the best time. For those of you with kids, you know how valuable it is to have a place where your kids AND you can be happy at the same time. I literally can't wait to come back without the kids and enjoy a Mama's Night Out! Ruby Lou's is exactly what Walnut Creek needed! Check it out and experience the goodness for yourself🩷

Ruby Lou’s is just what downtown Walnut Creek needs! A little more art, brightness, sunshine, and a whole lotta fun! A place the family can enjoy in the early evening, or a night on the town for adult fun. Meg the owner has a heart of gold and has definitely poured it into this new venture. Excited to see the cocktail menu come to fruition. Will be back soon!
