No need to drive all the way to Napa or Sonoma if you're looking for a relaxing wine-oriented afternoon. Great wines, amazing food, outstanding atmosphere overlooking the hillside and vineyards.

Shadowbrook is a beautiful place. Absolutely stunning view. Great food and wine. Great customer service as well.

Another great experience at Shadowbrook. Top notch service, ambience, food and wine! We took some friends there, who are very knowledgeable about wine, and they were blown away by the beauty of the property and really loved the wine flights and greatly enjoyed the fries in duck fat, Brussell sprouts, pesto pasta, prime rib sliders and lamb. Shadowbrook is a hidden gem that offers great wine experience without having to travel to wine country up north.

I was not expecting much from Shadowbrook Winery in Walnut Creek.
We avoid dining out Friday-Saturday and they are only open Thursday-Sunday.
We live very close to this winery (2000 feet!), but we had heard nothing about it, and put off trying it for years.

I expected a small winery with mediocre to poor wines with even worse placeholder food.
We were quite pleasantly surprised by the wine, food, service and view. The wines were all good and the food was really excellent as was the service and view.

We love a good charcuterie, and their full charcuterie was fantastic, and plenty for two. There were five cheeses, all delicious (one was a 3yo gouda), four meats, served along with plenty of great olives, cornichons and candied pecans. After polishing this off (with several glasses of wine) we did not have room for dinner, and instead finished off with wonderful prime rib sliders followed by a trio of sorbet. Neither of us was fond of the amaretto, but the cherry and chocolate were excellent. The menu is not huge, but there were several entrees we want to try on future visits (sea bass, rack of lamb, pork chop).
The service and ambiance (including the view of the winery, hills, cows, vultures, and morning doves) added to our experience. Jeff, our server, was terrific and made great recommendations. The cost of the wine flights seemed crazy high to me. Instead, get lots of wine by the glass…twice as much wine for the almost the same price.

They are only open Thursday through Sunday. Parking and seating are limited so they say “by appointment only” which means reservations are really required. Yelp and their website did not make it really clear how to make a dinner reservation, but going directly to Open Table worked great.

Beautiful setting looking out at the vineyards and My Diablo and we really enjoyed the wines, great Chardonnay and Rose to name a couple

Shadowbrook is always a great idea! We love the location, the wines (beer if you want), the food but most especially the people! You can't have a bad time here!!

Great prime rib sliders, duck fat fries and ribeye steak. Great service and bottomless European beer made for a great experience

This is about the fifth time I have visited Shadowbrook and find the prices have gone way up. I assume it is because the menu has expanded quite a bit. I can't see spending $30 for a glass of wine so although I like the ambiance and the service, I probably won't be visiting as often.

It's a gorgeous setting. The wine price is ok. The food is terrible and extraordinarily over priced

After my previous review, the owner called and asked for us to try again. We returned and are very glad to have done so. Our service was much better and our previous server apologized, acknowledging the less than stellar service at the time. I am grateful to have gone back and had an experience consistent with the owner's vision, and it speaks highly of his character that he took the time out to invite us back for a re-do.

Beautiful place, great music, food was top notch

We booked the winery for Easter brunch. We had heard that they serve a beautiful brunch, so we decided to go there specifically for the brunch. No one let us know that brunch was canceled because they did not have enough reservations. We had to order off the menu, which had limited options, and they did not have coffee or any other beverages to offer. I don't know if it was Open Table's responsibility, or Shadowbrook's, but it would've been nice to know that brunch had been canceled in advance so we could've chose another option.

Lisa
