I must have ordered the wrong thing because I genuinely don’t understand why this place has such rave reviews.

I ordered the chicken katsu curry and I have to say it’s one of the worst I’ve ever had and for the price I really did expect some great, high quality food.

Instead here are some of the issues I had with the food. First the chicken was dry, and tough. It seems like the food is not prepared to order (which I understand) but this seems like it was cooked hours ago and merely reheated for my to go order. Second, the chicken was incredibly oily and the batter was not light and crispy. It was quite stodgy and too crunchy. The curry is not really a curry instead it’s a curry flavored gravy, which I guess is ok, but for the price it really did just taste like regular generic gravy and I was not impressed. Rice was rice, which you can’t really get wrong, but the potatoes were pretty bad. They tasted mealy and had no flavor at all and were just barely cooked.

The egg was great though, but I can’t give this place any higher than one star based on perfectly cooked eggs when it’s an expensive place and you can get A LOT better at other places for less.

Honestly, not impressed sadly cause their pictures look so appetizing.

I did take out for burgers and it was delicious. California burgers with fries. Large portions and the staff was very nice.

Cha Thai Pancakes were delicious. Fluffy and well sauced (how I personally like it). I hate being honest sometimes but the potatoes were under seasoned. Garlic noodles were really good. Ube latte with coffee was good and ube flavor was present, but not overpowering. Service was excellent and the restaurant is large enough for bigger parties. Definitely coming back to taste more of their menu.

A simple act of kindness from one of the owners/servers made a huge difference in my day. I visit a family member in Rossmoor and on this particular day I was having a bit of a rough morning. I stopped in The Hangout to get a cup of coffee to go. The wonderful gentleman who helped me must have seen the look on my face and when he gave me the coffee, he just held my hand in both of his and told me to enjoy the coffee. He wouldn't take any money. There are still kind people!!! I am aware this is a local restaurant and I hope everyone gives it a try. (it smells AMAZING when you walk in)

We have been here twice and love it. We’ve tried the poutine and a couple of the benedicts. (Crab, crispy chicken, and the flying pig) They were all good and the portion sizes are large. The thai tea was sweet, but would probably get it without whipped cream next time.

The food was really good. Huge portions and quite a variety. Service was slow as they were busy. Was pretty loud. We were seated quickly but food was a bit of a wait and our appetizer was served with the meal. That was a big bummer for me.

Parking: Plenty of parking in a shopping center

Way too expensive for what you get. A joke. $54 for 2 people. I wouldn't mind pain if it was good. Ice tea is $6. The bacon is $6.50. Pancakes $19, sausage and eggs $19.

Fun restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Their food is EXTRA! Super large and quite good. My bacon avocado omelette was a ton of bacon and avocado and cheese wrapped in a thin layer of I
Omelette. Enough red potatoes for a family of 6! Another diner with is had the mascarpone French toast. Delicious and gorgeously presented. The other guest in our party had a scramble. Maybe 6 eggs? You’ll have left overs!

Food was acceptable for bfast. But the garlic noodles was a big fail. Very young wait staff that are not trained. Free refills of coffee that would not Have arrived if I didn't ask for it. Plates are small which the food filled 8 or 9 inches across. The place is clean, but no soul. Not great enough for additional visits.

I am willing to give this place another shot, but my first experience was nothing liked I hoped it would be. I was super excited to try the Ube pancakes and ube syrup. I was expecting an exciting experience, but unfortunately it wasn't. Both of our meals came out cold, so cold the butter for the waffle never melted, the fruit was not fresh, the pancakes cost $18 plus another $11 on top of that to make it a meal. The pancakes were dry and nothing like I read in the reviews. The service was good when we received our iced coffees which were the best tasting out of the whole meal. Other than that it took a long time to get our food (party of 2) we were the only customers there at the time too.
