We have been going to this restaurant for the last 12 years, at least 2 or 3 times or month. This place has good people who own it, hard working and noble employees, everyone is kind and their food is really good. I love that their food tastes delicious, fresh, safe and that is is highly comparable and often times better than that of much more expensive places. This is a great place to become a regular at, to go with family or to do take out.Our favorite dishes here:Rolls: tekka Maki, hamachi maki, Fuji mountain, Toyota special.Salad: sunomonoBest miso soup in townDelicious and a great value: white tuna tataki.Try their delicious hot tea... Whoever makes it here has the best ratio of water to tea I have ever seen!

This was my 2nd time here. After my wife and I saw this place and were curious to try it the first time we had been wanting to return with our daughters.The rolls here are huge and the pricing isn't bad at all (by sushi standards).Staff is friendly and attentive. I think we found our new favorite sushi spot.Vegetarian options: My wife got one of the fancier vegetarian rolls. But there are several different vegetarian options.My kids always get cucumber rolls (Kappamaki) which is vegetarian.Parking: Parking lot can get busy and you have to be lucky if you want a closer parking spot, or walk a little from the more available spots further away.Kid-friendliness: Our kids are satisfied with basic rice and Kappamaki rolls, which they have.They have forks but can also give a special kid friendly chopstick setup on request to make it easier for the younger ones.

First time trying this I door dashed it and we didn’t get any sauce or chopsticks they got our order wrong and the rolls weren’t good, the tuna wasn’t fresh and the salmon was sticky never seen that in any other sushi

We were a family, served quickly. The soups are tasty, the rolls are huge, so I recommend you consider ordering them. We ordered too much ☺️Prices ok, large parking lot in front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is average because the place is not very cozy. However, the service and food were ok.

Best Sushi in Walnut Creek, concord and pleasant hill areas. Big portions and decent prices. It’s truly an authentic Japanese restaurant.

It's taken me a long while to write a review here. My goal is to try almost every item on the menu. The facility is small, it has a hole in the wall feel, without being an actual hole in the wall. I have some complaints about the cleanliness of the place but the quantity plus quality is very, very equal. Some days are hit or miss. The quality and size of the rolls fluctuate depending on the time of week (it seems). All in all, I still choose this place hand over fist. It scratches the itch without burning the bank. I'm torn on giving five stars because it really is 5/5 for what they have to offer but I unfortunately am giving 4 because the place needs some janitorial services from time to time. I've stopped eating in the restaurant for this reason. I can only hope the food is more clean than the facility

BEWARE CREDIT CARD FRAUD. Ok the food is good. But when we got the bill, THE SERVER ADDED GRATUITY WITHOUT OUR CONSENT. I understand that some restaurants add gratuity if you have a large party or bill, but our bill was only $59 for 2 people. As soon as the lady ran my husbands card he got a notification on his phone saying we spent $71 at toyo sushi. I asked the server if she accidentally charged us for someone elses meal, she said no. I showed her the notification and she was flabbergasted that we noticed! My man wouldn't let me make a scene BUT LADY YOU NEED TO KNOW, THAT IS ILLEGAL. She kept trying to say "oh if youve been here before, maybe they already know you will leave tip" "oh it's not us, you have to call your credit company, there's something wrong with your card." They ended up doing NOTHING to "help" us. SO. EVERYONE CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENTS AS SOON AS THEY TAKE YOUR CARD. I WOULD HAVE CHARGED THEM NEGATIVE AND FLIPPED A TABLE TO GET MY POINT ACROSS.

We got one specialty sushi roll and miso soup each. Rolls were a big portion for ~$15 and had lots of flavor! (Pieces are bigger than usual which made them a little difficult to handle with chopsticks.) Went in between lunch & dinner when it wasn't too crowded and wait staff was attentive.

Food was hit or miss. The tempura batter had a really weird taste, and I would not recommend the chicken teriyaki. Dragon roll was not bad though. The sushi portions might be larger, but quality suffers. The place felt a little rundown. Would look elsewhere next-time.
