We had the pleasure of eating an amazing meal at this place! Lou was filled with so much joy as he described all of the food he made. Everything was delicious!

Lou and June made our trip to California complete! We were driving through, hungry from a long morning of travel and took us in as if we were members of their own family! I can't even begin to tell you how amazing the food is! The Mexican Flag is a must eat dish and the tamales are some of the best we've ever eaten! If I lived in this area we would be here at least once a week!
Beyond the amazing food I can't thank Lou and June enough for their hospitality and for giving us such a great experience! Thank you!!!!

My boyfriend and I were looking for food nearby after visiting the Cosumnes River Preserve. Fat Lou’s had great reviews and I am so glad we stopped by. I had the bacon cheeseburger with their homemade French fries. So so good - produce was fresh and the tomatoes on my burger were perfectly ripe. This is now on my list of top 5 burgers in the greater Sac area. My boyfriend got the carnitas which were also delicious. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. You can tell that they take a lot of pride in their food. Service was excellent too. We will be back to try some of their tamales.

In the ten years I have lived in California, I have eaten at several dozen places that served Mexican or Mexican inspired food. This was the best I have had. The refried beans are made from scratch, not from a can. Same with the tamales.
I cannot decide which is the better sauce: the rojo or the verde.
The Charizo and eggs were shockingly good. The chorizo was not drowning in grease. Portions were appropriate.
Overall it was a tad on the high side re price, but given that everything is made from scratch, I am ok paying a couple dollars more.
Seriously, if you are near, definitely eat hear.

Fat Lou’s Cafe is absolutely incredible!
Everything was just perfect — from the food to the service and the atmosphere. I honestly can’t even find the right words to explain how amazing the experience was. Everything tasted so fresh and full of flavor, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I truly can’t imagine a better place. Highly recommended to everyone!

The only problem I have is how do you justify charging 38 something for one breakfast burrito and a cup of coffee? My wife and I shared.

The chorizo breakfast burrito was excellent! The chorizo was really good quality. I didn’t have the red grease dripping out like other burritos I have had. The lady at the counter was so nice. Talked about the local area and made me want to explore the towns before I left. The restaurant was spotless. Recommend!

Driving back to SF after paying a visit to a vendor in Sacramento, maps detoured us through Walnut Grove and we pulled in for some lunch. Best random lunch stop ever. Food was amazing and June was really nice. The salsa on the table was some of the best I’ve ever had! June even put some in a jar so we could take some home with us!

When you find yourself in Walnut Grove, Ca. As we have this week. Don’t miss a meal at Fat Lou’s. We walked in around 2pm. Lou treated us like family. Took our orders got our beverages and started bringing freshly made chips and jalapeño with variety of homemade sauces and salsas all made this week from his garden. The carnitas was delicious and I must say the leftovers several hours later hit the spot. Lived in LA for many years, Lou’s food was on par with any I’ve eaten. Great guy, good story teller and excellent food. Check it out
Best Mexican cuisine in the Sacramento Delta, Lou personally let us try his homemade salsa, maybe some homemade chelada beer, and was all around a great host, surprisingly it was my first time there as I've lived here all my life and Lou has been around for a few years now, we had breakfast and I had the steak rancheros with an egg it was amazing!

Lou and his staff were amazing. They took every opportunity to ensure we had the best meal experience possible. The experience was only exceeded by the food itself. Must recommend to anyone driving thru town. Take the time to stop and enjoy.

Food is pretty expensive which is expected for a rural area but the quality doesn’t match…20.00 for chicken sandwich and it looks like it was beat up first before I came to pick it up. I did expect something different especially since it came from a diner.

Outstanding food. The owner, Lou, took pride in his cooking and you could taste it. We had breakfast. The tortillas and chile relleno were the BEST! My eggs and bacon were prepared perfectly. Looking forward to going back!
