OoToro Sushi Japanese Restaurant

This sushi restaurant offers really fresh cuts of fish; however, we have a problem with the making and construction of the sushi. They're basically thick cuts of fish placed haphazardly on a ball of rice. Every piece fell apart the instant you picked them up with chopsticks. Given the premium price this restaurant charges, I think we expect a more refined sushi-making technique, and the amateurish handling of the sushi undermines the fresh quality of the fish.

Lots of fish on the menu are unavailable! Tempura is terrible!!! Fried rice and pasta is very salty!!! Very disappointed!!!

Fantastic omakase! We searched Google for omakase near us, and this restaurant came up. But most interestingly, Google showed we've been here 10 years ago. Don't remember though. Can't believe Google keeps track of us for so long...
Any how, we decided on omakase. We ordered two, one for me and one for my wife. Must say it was very good! The fish, the crab, the oysters... Everything were very fresh and tasty!
Great service too!

Lunch special ???

My review is for lunch. My cousin introduced me to the OoToro Sushi place. I’m from Canada visiting California. The sashimis were top graded, it didn’t disappointed me. They were not just fresh but also delicate, clean, bright coloured! Each pieces were cut thick. The price is a bit high side but I’d would pay more to get top graded fresh sashimi than low graded cheaper sashimi.

Friendly and attentive servers and kids friendly, but it’s first come first serve so I arrived early to list my group’s name for seating.

YUM. Delicious, great quality sushi, amazing service. High prices. T.T rip my credit. The omakase is freaking $150+. In Walnut.The restaurant is located in a low key plaza off the 60 fwy. There is a small parking lot, but it is uneven. Be careful with friends on wheels. The interior is dim. There is a sushi bar, but there are also tables that can accommodate larger parties.Lunch is a good time to go because it's not nearly as crowded as dinner time and the price is lower. They do charge extra for take out. I have to say I was really satisfied with the quality of the sashimi. I also love hamachi kama, so I will have to try that next time!

The wait time for walk-in customers was long! !With tables being prioritized for those with reservations, which is understandable. However, I was shocked when the staff seated people who arrived after me and had no reservations ahead of me. Upon inquiry, the staff confidently stated that they were being seated because they were opting for omakase or sashimi. They claimed that if I wanted to dine in the same manner, I could also be accommodated. However, there was a complete lack of communication beforehand, and the staff failed to assess the situation of those waiting in line. As a result, many walk-in customers, including myself, left after waiting for an extended period without any seating arrangements. Overall, I would not recommend this establishment for walk-ins.!!
