Sunny Dumpling House - Walnut

Yummy Yummy! We're so glad that we have a delicious XLB place close to us. They have XLB (Xiao Long Bao/steamed pork dumplings) for BOGO promotion. Yes, buy one, get one free. We ordered their juicy pork Xiao Long Bao ($12.99 for 9 pieces), and they also gave us another order for free. (so we had a total of 18 pieces for 2 orders). We also ordered braised pork. The flavor of the pork was marinated well, and the texture was perfect, soft and tender. Their cucumber with garlic was also delicious.
We like their food so much and hope they do well in Walnut.

Descent food at a reasonable price in a quiet neighborhood! Can't go wrong with their buy-one-get-one-free juicy buns deal! Would recommend to try their green onion pancake as well. It's better than most places, thin, light and crispy!

Their soup dumplings are incredibly delicious, but I’m a bit puzzled. They offer a buy-one-get-one-free deal if you dine in, but not for takeout. So if I dine in and then pack them to go after they’re served, I can still enjoy the deal. I’ll try that next time 👍🏻🧠.

While the beef noodle soup tasted good with their fresh noodles, the stinky tofu dish left a lot to be desired. I wasn't expecting the tofu to be slathered in spicy peanut paste to the point it covered up the stinky tofu taste. The xiao long bao bogo free deal is running until the end of the year for reference.

One thing that was a lot annoying was because the right side of the restaurant is blocked by a wall, it can be hard to get the waiters attention. We would have to get out of seats and wave them over since they didn't check on us often. I also noticed that the fridges with the frozen dumplings didn't label the dumplings with their made date or best by date.

I came here since I was nearby and saw that they made Xiao long bao ($10.99) and their stir fried cabbage ($10.99). I also got the plum drink, which is very old school Chinese summer drink, a strong smoky flavor from the smoked plum and haw berries. The place has a lot of seating. The lady gave me a small side of their spicy roasted peanuts with pickles, along with a bottle of water.

The wait time was not long, the xiao long bao had a thicker skin and less juicy than my local restaurant I frequent. It still good and has a good amount of meat inside. The stir fried cabbage was great with plenty of sliced garlic.

They also sell frozen dumplings for people to cook at home. The place is clean and the staff is nice and attentive. They're closed on mondays and closed from 2-5 daily.

You need to try this spot. Customer service *burp* best in the west. This spot is not in a common area, but definitely worth the find. I would rate these dumplings up there with the best. Thank you!

I went right when they opened, and had an amazing experience. The xiao long bao and wontons are fresh and delicious. There is seriously nothing better than fresh dumplings. The prices are fair and the servers were kind. I accidentally left my purse and they ran out to give it to me. Would recommend!
