It is a small friendly winery with excellently crafted wine.

Mike is great! My wife and I are long-time members. Exceptional wine at an incredible value. I had the opportunity to meet Mike in person and chat with him for a while a couple of months ago. I shared my love for fortified wines, and he shared a barrel tasting of his upcoming Port (fantastic), and offered me one of his last bottles of Manzanilla (such a special gift). The grounds are also a wonderful place to take the family and have a picnic. We're glad to be a part of the Hawk Watch family, and we're looking forward to our "futures" with the winery :)

The weather was perfect. They had live music, and the views were great. The rosé was really good.

Made a stop to this winery for the first time (on whim) after camping at cuyamaca lake. SO glad we stopped in!

While it was too hot for sitting outside we enjoyed the intimate barrel/tasting room perfectly air-conditioned. We didn't catch her name but our host was so personable and knowledgeable about the wines! She made our experience 11/10 ?. Personally I tried the majority white wines flight that ending with a rose and light red. "Sequoia" was great! (And I'm not a rose person). While my boyfriend had the prominent red flight starting light and going into more deep reds. His favorite was hypnotica.

Overall they're certainly off the beaten path but 100% worthy of a visit. Worth it wines and lovely people!

Cheers !

By far my favorite winery in San Diego County. This authentic wine maker focuses all their time and energy on making excellent wine. Where some other wine makers are wedding venues or tourist attractions first, Hawk Watch got it right in my opinion; great wine made with passion. Having said that, it's also beautifully located in the Warner Springs area, which means you can enjoy a glass of wine in tranquility surrounded by the vineyards and beautiful hillsides.

After a weekend in Temecula, tasting wines, Hawk Watch was the perfect last stop. Sommelier Alyssa and owner Mike were great to talk with and discover their outstanding wines. If I make it back to the valley, this will be my first stop.

A great selection from an out of the way winery. They have two or three whites, a rosé, and lots of reds. They even have two port style wines. Worth to drive out, the views are incredible, and the staff is very welcoming.

Excellent stop for tasting delicious wines, off the beaten path a bit. Terrific scenic location, charming informative hosts, cozy tasting room. Sauvignon Blanc and Smoking Gopher among the several excellent choices in the wine flights available. Thank you, Lisa. ?? Recommended.

June 2021We discovered this little known gem of a San Diego back country drive: San Diego North Mountain Wine Trail. The Hawk Watch Winery ended up being our only stop of the four wineries. It was a glorious Sunday outing with our multigenerational family. Party of five, ages 2, 13 + parents and grandparents. The winery offers a limited variety of cheese and crackers - but you are welcome to bring snacks or picnics of your own.Along with their wines, Hawkwatch offers scenic valley and mountain views from a number of drinking and picnic perches, tables and relaxing lounge chairs. We enjoyed our own picnic in this lovely setting with panoramic views from a covered table. It was a white wine sort of day. We shared a bottle of 2020 Savignion Blanc followed by their Viognier, maybe half a bottle. Both lovely and satisfying. The Viognier with fuller body was my preference; our daughter picked up some Savignion Blanc to enjoy at home.Hawk Watch has a wine club - red wines only, as those are their specialty. We look forward to our next visit to try those. We just made an offer on a house nearby, so maybe we'll become neighbors as well as club members. As mentioned earlier, there are three other wineries nearby and they all are joined in a collaborative effort to make an entire day visit to this little known secret spot of San Diego County.Bonus: if you wish, you can circle Palomar Mountain in the effort. Also - a glider port at nearby Warner Springs offers scenic flights over the surrounding countryside.Live music sometimes... (I think)....Every other Friday during Summer 2023
