The chocolate cookies & cream was my favorite though could have been better w more cookies and fresher, crunchier cookies; the hojicha was better than expected; and the gaviota strawberry tasted of real, sweet strawberry. Updated from previous review on 2025-10-02

Always delicious, interesting and unique flavors…the girl working there was super fun and we had a great experience. Definitely going to go back.

Very fresh flavors ! A touch heavy on the coconut. This was the closest I’ve come to Honeys Icecream in YYZ. Very friendly service!!

When I tell you this is literally the best ice cream you could get, I’m being so fr. I don’t even have a sweet tooth but this place is amazing.

1000/10 - girl at the window was fab, didn’t mind us both trying a bunch of samples and was very chill n friendly. I went with my fiance (who is not vegan or dairy-free and very picky) and he agreed it was insanely good, we both got split scoops because it was so hard to narrow down to just 2 flavors. We each got a combo and shared - he did salted caramel/chocolate Oreo, and I did a hojicha/coffee.

You genuinely can’t go wrong with any of the flavors, but I think my favorite if I had to pick would be the hojicha just because it has such a unique flavor profile and I don’t normally see it anywhere.

Pls open one in SD :’)

Awan offers a unique and memorable ice cream experience. The atmosphere is very distinct and stylish — simple, modern, and photo-worthy. Service was friendly and efficient. Although the flavors aren’t overly sweet, the texture is incredibly creamy and satisfying. The quality of ingredients really stands out, and the vegan options are a big plus. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something different from your usual scoop!

Love vanilla coconut icecream only!🥰

This is a really small ice cream shop, but the long line makes perfect sense once you try it. I had the vanilla coconut ice cream and it was absolutely heavenly—so creamy and full of flavor. There’s also a small seating area prepared, which made it nice to enjoy on the spot.

I sampled a couple of other flavors, but the coconut was by far my favorite. Totally worth the wait, and I’d definitely come back just for that flavor alone.

This place felt over-rated. I tried a few flavors as someone who LOVES ice-cream, especially plant-based ice-cream. I felt it lacked flavor and sweetness. Every flavor you mainly tasted the cocunt milk more than the flavors of the ice cream. The banana lemon curd was awful.

The ambiance was cute, but definitely wont be going back.

Gaviota strawberry remains my favorite - also tried the seasonal cantaloupe melon this time. Split scoop $10. Price is reasonable for the quality and comparable to other premium ice creams in LA.

The texture is incredible, but melts fast in the heat so eat it quickly. Cups only. Always friendly service and offers samples, but sometimes there's a line that can take a minute.

Easily beats Wanderlust and Salt & Straw for me. Glad they're expanding!

I found this ice cream spot on Infatuation's list of the best LA ice cream spots.

The ice cream shop is a small window that shares a small building with a coffee shop.

There was only one staff working, so the service was a bit slow, and the line kept growing.

The staff was friendly and shared a few samples with me. I ended up choosing the seasonal flavors of cantaloupe and hibiscus for my split scoop ice cream. They charged me an extra dollar for each seasonal flavor, so I ended up paying around $13 plus tip. While the cantaloupe flavor was perfectly made and tasty, $13 for a split scoop is a lot. I can probably get two orders of split scoops or a pint of ice cream at Salt n Straw for that price.

Great vegan ice cream with lots of specialty flavors.

Unfortunately, I waited 30 minutes at the counter during business hours for the staff member to get off of break. So if you’re in a hurry, just take that into account.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Would definitely come back! The flavors were unique and service was amazing!

DOGS ALLOWED: Yes!

AMBIANCE/LOCATION: Located in the back, next to Dayglow Coffee, through a small window. If no one is there, kindly ring the bell. Plenty of seats (shared space with Dayglow).

DRESS CODE: Smart Casual

ORDERED:
[5/5] Dayglow Coffee: great taste of coffee and was not too overpowering!
[5/5] Nekohama Hojicha: some will say, it resembles the taste of matcha. While still a green tea, there is more of a roasted flavor.
[5/5] Cantaloupe Melon: light and refreshing!
[4/5] Peach-Apricot Swirl: flavors were paired well, but a bit too sweet.

We did split scoops and the combo we had, paired well with each other. You can sample any flavor they have.

SERVICE: Service was exceptional! Eden assisted us and she was super friendly!

PRICE: ~ $10pp

PARKING: Street/metered parking.
