The restaurant itself was absolutely gorgeous, we sat on the patio. The menu was extensive with all sorts of different dishes. We split the nachos which were incredible and tried a few types of tacos. We also ordered a side of plantains and the portion was huge so we brought some home. The staff was super helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks were delicious as well. All three of the tacos we tried were ridiculously scrumptious. My favorite was the mushroom chicharron but you seriously can’t go wrong with any. I would recommend this place to vegans and omnivores alike. A majority of the menu is gluten free as well. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert but I’ve heard great things about those here as well. Overall this place is a MUST if you’re in LA! We drove from Manhattan Beach and it was worth it. I hope to go back as soon as possible!
food was horrible, I cant find any words cauliflower was undercooked and smelled bad, sauces were very heavy, only thing that was worth eating was the guacamole, and plantains.
I wish I had known it was a vegetarian Mexican restaurant... I would never have gone. Well, the place was nice. It just wasn't what I was looking for. I can see how a vegetarian would love it. But they should advertise better.
I guess open table says when the person who is booking's bday is coming up and they made me a little card x gave me a dessert with a little candle it was adorable. Loved our waiter Abraham x
I usually love it here, despite the VERY high prices. However, the lunch menu is too limited and not very good. For sure great for dinner though.
Great food. I didnt know this was a vegan restaurant but i was in awe with how well the food tasted.
Trendy location, gorgeous establishment! The people were wonderful and kind, the food was creative and delicious! Their fixed-price lunch menu is so worth it: the horchata is legit, the agua fresca is seasonal; the cashew queso fundido is to die for, the hearts of palm ceviche was my first ceviche ever, so tasty; the masa cake with huitlacoche was superb!
Best vegan restaurants in LA. Excellent, fresh food with diverse menu. Absolutely beautiful courtyard. Always excellent service, unruffled by my multiple special request. Super fun and cool.
I had such a wonderful experience here! Amazing food, great vibes, and excellent customer service from Friday Garcia(manager) and Antonio (server)! Definitely will be coming back!
I also want to acknowledge Julio (server), Fred (who brought us our food), and Andrea. They were so amazing and made our experience coming back even more wonderful. Thank you again!
This place is amazing!!

It’s a very beautiful location. We had a reservation, yet we were put-off by the hostess who said our table wasn’t ready (even tho it was a weeknight and there were plenty of open tables) she made us wait an extra 20 mins to be seated. The bartenders and servers were wonderful. The lions mane tacos were excellent, the rest of the food was ok. We ordered the churros for dessert; and the inside seemed uncooked. The lovely waiter brought us a new plate, but the inside still had a doughey uncooked texture. We were served the wrong drink, which the lovely waiter fixed as soon as we informed him. It all just added up to a bad overall experience.
First, we loved Gracias Madre Newport. Big fans. Unfortunately, they closed and this is the only one left. It's far for us so this trip was our first visit. Like Newport, the patio is amazing. The decor is upscale, modern Spanish and refreshing- who doesn't love sitting among trees while enjoying a meal.
Upon arrival, the dining room was empty. The patio had a few guests, but we arrived for an early dinner. The host attempted to sit is at a very tiny table inches away from another couple who were enjoying their meal. The woman had her purse on the bench in between tables and it was just an awkward feeling. The patio is nearly empty. Why are you sitting all the tables right next to each other? The host must have sensed my dissatisfaction and offered us a different small table next to another guest. I'm sure there's a reason, but it felt strange. Our waitress wasn't pleasant. She took our order and abruptly asked well how to you want me to do this because the table is so small and you've ordered 4 plates. It's happy hour y'all. If the tables are too small, fix it. If the plates are too big, fix it. Don't ask the guests how to do your job. Again, uncomfortable.
The food arrived- and it tasted great. Just like Newport. Unfortunately, just like Newport, they use an oil or grease that KILLS my stomach. It could be an allergy exclusive to me- but if you're a vegan with a sensitive tummy, beware. It gave me cramps before we got to the car.
TLDR- we won't be back.
went for happy hour and loved the mushroom tacos. tried the jackfruit bbq slider with fries which also didn’t disappoint. will definitely be back
Great cultural dishes with a good environment. Must go to place for vegans in the Los Angeles area.
The food and waiter were excellent. My only gripe was that I specifically noted that it was my partner's birthday and they completely ignored that. This is my partner's favorite vegan restaurant in LA, and it felt like they really dropped the ball.
